Recommendations for Water Filter

Hello,

Right now I give my 1 year old daughter tap water. I occasionally give her bottled water. Our pediatrician recommended that we use a water filter. I looked at Target and was thinking of getting one that you can attach directly to the faucet. I was curious if anyone had any recommendations? I look forward to hearing from other mamas! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would recommend a reverse osmosis water filter as well. They are kind of spending and can be found at home improvement stores, but are definitely worth the investment.

we've always used the Pur water filter on our faucet, it's one of the best I think.

Hi L.,
I have had the Shaklee Best Water Reverse Osmosis II for the last 15 years. The "filters" have to be changed every 12-18 months. It purifies the water versus just filtering.

Pur worked great for us until we bought a Frig with a built in water filtration system.

I've used the Pur faucet mount filter. Be sure to get the one that takes the stage 3 filters - they get more stuff out. One thing with the fixture - they do break sometimes (some of the plastic has come off or their was a little crack so water actually squirted out from the wrong spot) . Save your receipts. Costco sells multi-packs of the filters sometimes.

I have used the Brita faucet mounted ones for years. Easy to use and easy to find replacement filters. They work great and the best part, as someone said, is that they break every once in a while (that's not the good part), it's that Brita has great customer service and have sent us free replacement units 2 or 3 times and they sometimes come with a new filter :)

Be careful when you filter your water or provide bottled water for your little ones. Often times, the fluoride in the water is filtered out and they really need that... we all do, so check to make sure they get fluoride in other forms or that the fluoride is not totally filtered out.

Brita and Pur both have worked great for me, and you can taste the difference!

I have the Britta faucet attachment and love it! The one with 3 settings, regular, filtered and also a spray setting for regular tap water. It lasts about 3-5 months on average (we also have filtered fridge water so summer that gets used more for drinking, while winter the tap does). Not too expensive for the peace of mind. Good luck!
