Recommendations for New Cell Phone (Alltel Customers)!

So, I dropped and broke my cell that I've had for almost 3 years! I need a new one and I'm hoping that you all can give me your opinions. I had the old Samsung Hue and LOVED it... It was so reliable and, up until recently, unbreakable! I've dropped it about 100 times! :) What cell phones (preferably through Alltel and NOT a SmartPhone) do you recommend to get or to stay away from?? We are currently in an area that does NOT get wonderful reception so I need something that works fairly well in the "middle of nowhere." We are not planning to get a SmartPhone at this time... Just a reliable phone. Any and all suggestions are appreciated! Thanks, in advance!!

I have a hue too. It's my favorite! Did they discontinue it? I've had mine for 3 years too. It works great. I'm dreading getting a different one.

I looked on ebay, and there are many Samsung Hue phones available. I bought my last couple of phones from ebay because a salesperson told me it was a better deal than buying cell phone insurance.

Well, I don't have a specific recommendation on a cell phone per se but just a comment about alltel, a warning! My husband had alltel a few years back and he went on an international trip and asked them to put his plan on hold, which they said was fine, and he wouldn't be charged while he was gone. Well instead of holding to their word they doubled his plan and automatically withdrew twice the amount he normally paid during his 2 month overseas trip, into the month after that as well. When he finally discovered this after returning it took a 6 month battle with the better business bureau to get his money back and even after that they claimed he still owed THEM money and sent a credit collection to the credit companies (we discovered a while later after thinking it was resolved and getting rid of a massive pile of paperwork) so alltel has now almost ruined his credit and all our attempts to fight it have been unsuccessful so far. So, if you proceed with alltel do so with GREAT CAUTION!!! They had terrible customer service and were very unreliable.

3 years! I am very impressed. Well eventually all cell phones die. In my experience it is not the type of phone, but the one you get. I had good luck with the razors - I have had about 3 of them (I am really h*** o* phones, lol). However, I have know others who have had terrible luck.

If all you want is a phone that won't break, they have some really tough phones out there.

Good Luck,
S.

I also have had that problem. My razor just broke, that I absolutely loved. I was not overly impressed with the new phones as they are all geared for texting which I don't do. I went with another Motorola that I felt would fit my needs. I am not as happy with this phone as I was with my razor, but I couldn't find another razor phone around here. Good luck as they try to get you to buy a smartphone where you have to pay extra to get the apps per month. We went to Wal-Mart as we also have Verizon(All Tel) and got our phones free. This is the second time we have done this. First time was with our razors, and we did not have any issues. Again good luck, and I would try Wal-Mart first.
