Mamas,

Originally I had my little one on Similac Advance and she had a hard time with that. Then we switched to Similac Sensitive for Spit Up and she was doing better until it got recalled. About a month before it got recalled she was always fussy and cried a lot. So once we got her on some better Similac Sensitive for Spit up formula she has been doing great. Well..... now stupid Similac has not got a lot of those cans back on the shelf and now I don't know what to feed her. I have been buying in bulk, but I can not find it anywhere anymore. I have had to buy the ready to feed kind and now I am having trouble finding that too. What would you recommend? I am thinking of switching brands all together. This is ridiculous to have to go to many different stores to find only a few left. Any suggestions??? Thank you! My little one is 8 months old.

What can I do next?

We use Enfamil Gentlease.. This is about the only thing my daughter can deal with after the Similac recall because I refuse to put her back on that. We tried several different ones and this one has stuck.. good luck :)

We tried all the expensive stuff with both our girls but little tummies couldn't tolerate them either. Our DR suggested we try Parent's Choice Gentle Formula (it's the walmart brand) and viola it worked perfectly for both of our girls. No more gas, no more spit up. Our girls are four years apart and frankly I had forgotten about the parent's choice until our 2nd child had so much trouble digesting the Alimentum and Neutromogen. Another thing to consider is the type of bottle you are using. While pregnant with our first my OB had suggested Dr Brown's bottles. We used them right from the start, even with my pumped breatmilk. Good Luck and God Bless.

Earth's Best....that's what finally worked for our son. It's organic and a little bit more expensive, but our son didn't spit it up! You can find it Target, Babies R Us & Whole Foods and HEB/Central Market and you can buy it online! We downloaded coupons for Earth's Best off google. Most coupons we're $2-4.00 off.

Enfamil A.R. or I have heard that the Target formula is the same. I prefer Enfamil over Similac but have to use Similac because I have WIC with my twins. A.R. is a bit thicker and thus reduces the spit up. You can also try Similac for fussiness and gas. It is still in the Sensitive line if your preference is Similac. You can try adding a bit of rice cereal to the formula. Maybe about half a tablespoon. Maybe talk to your doctor about what she suggests as well. My twins have spit-up issues because they were premature (Now four-months-old) so I can understand the frustration.

Edit: you can go to the Enfamil website and they have a starter program that they will send you a case of formula and formula checks in the mail. I recently recieved five checks for five dollars off a can of any size. They have also sent me samples in the form of the four oz travel packets which work well for the diaper bag for back up.

Walmart and Target carry brands that are just like the name brand formulas. you can compare the labels and they are the same quality. My BIL is a pharmacist and VERY A type about his kids (lol) and he feed them the walmart formula. And its soooo much cheaper :)

Try similac alimentum. Its lactose and milk protein free and it basically eliminates spit up, gas, and fussiness in 24 hours. It does smell really bad and it has a weird light color to it though.

Yes I would switch brands, and in fact, I would suggest going generic. I used the Target generic for both my kids. For the first 7-9 months (I can't really remember) my daughter was on the spit up stuff too and then we went to "regular". My son used the soy generic. I had no problems with eitehr of them and it was so much cheaper! No matter what brand you switch to, I would start slow and probably just get one can to make sure. We had to switch my son's formula a few times due to medical issues and each time he had a bit of constipation, so your baby might have an adjustment period. Good luck!

When my daughter was an infant she had colic and was fussy. We used Enfamil Gentlease and switched to Dr. Brown's bottles. The combo of these two seemed to help her alot and it was more gentle on her tummy. She used that formula until she switched to milk. Hope all goes well for you guys!
