Recommendation for Cookbook for Picky 7 Yo and 4 Yo

I am looking for a good children's cookbook that my 7 yo and 4 yo can cook from. I'm trying to encourage them to try some new things through cooking. I'm looking for main courses as well as desserts. Anyone have a good one that the kids really like? One for kids to use.

Have you checked out www.weelicious.com? Catherine's recipes are awesome and I've tried about 7 or 8 of them with great success! She also has a facebook page and if you friend her, her new recipes show up on your home page.

I have a cookbook called "The Big Book of Family Dinners" that I got at my bridal shower, but I use it ALL THE TIME now to cook for my family. It's organized into sections by main ingredient -- chicken, beef, fish, vegetarian, etc, and has one recipe per page with a huge, beautiful picture. My daughter loves to leaf through it to pick a meal that looks good. The ingredients are common and easy to find, nothing too crazy or exotic. It's not explicitly for kids, but maybe it would work?

Here's a link to it on amazon:

I'm not sure if you mean a cookbook for children, or a cookbook for parents of picky children.

For parents check out:

Anything by Annabel Karmel. She has books and a website. You can buy her books at Toys R. Us or from her website. Her website is updated regularly and has fantastic recipes. See www.annabelkarmel.com

For kids:

Emeril Lagasse has several great cookbooks for kids.

Maybe a children's storybook inspired cookbook would entice them.

Sesame Street makes some fun cookbooks. I have also never been steered wrong by Betty Crocker and found this one...http://www.amazon.com/Betty-Crocker-Kids-Cook-Editors/dp/... You can click to look at the table of contents. It looks as if there are many foods and even some crafty type things like paint and dough type activities to make from kitchen items.

I love cooking projects with kids (I do home childcare so we do quite a few). Not only do they get to have a vested interest in the meal they are going to eat, but its a great activity for math and science. Alot of numbers and mixing and following directions.

Thinking I might find that one for my crew!!
Have fun!

I have a great kids' cookbook called "Kosher By Design- Kids in the Kitchen" that I really love. A 4 and 7 year old will not be able to cook independently, but the recipes are pretty simple and easy for kids to follow, and they can do a lot of the measuring, mixing, etc. themselves. The recipes are delicious and cover everything from appetizers, desserts, snacks, etc. I use some of them as my own go-to recipes all the time!

Don't worry, you don't have to keep kosher to cook from it :)
