Recommend a Good Easel?
I want to get my daughter an easel and would like to know if any of you moms can recommend one based on your experience (or tell me what to stay away from)? She will be three and loves to do arts and crafts and pictures, etc.

I have a Little Tykes red plastic easel which is in great condition if you are interested (just let me know). It has a chalk-board on one side and a clip for hanging paper to draw or paint on the other side. It folds relatively flat. It was ideal for my kids from 2-yrs to 8-yrs (my kids still use it sometimes, but we have just run out of room). Let me know.

I love my easel from Lakeshore Learning. I think it was pretty pricy, maybe 100 dollars, but well worth it. The quality is great and it adjusts to different heights as my children grow. I know IKEA sells one, but I am not sure of the quality for 30 or so dollars. Not sure where you live, but lakeshore learning is off of m-59 just past m-53 on the right hand side. Or check them out on the web at www.lakeshorelearning.com

The easil from IKEA is wonderful and the price is great!! If you don't want to travel to the store, it may be in their catalog or on the website. I think that it is only $20-$30. Much bettern than the little tikes kind.
Good Luck,

The Crayola one you can get from Toys R Us is a good buy.

Ikea has a very good line of art products, at a great price. The easel has two sides, and you can also get a roll of paper, so you can save her artwork.

I know it's another big, ugly piece of plastic, but I like the Little Tykes plastic one because it has trays on both sides and washes up nicely. We got ours second hand and after three kids it still looks great and is used frequently. It has a clip that we use to attach large sheets of paper on one side and a chalkboard on the other. If you really want to use the rolls of paper, it wouldn't be the best option.

IKEA all the way! it is wonderful! and not very expensive- best part is that you can fold it up when you are not using it. we are currently making our holiday gift wrap- I keep advancing the rolled paper so far we have about 3 yards of kid made gift wrap!

Ooooohhhhhh I love Melissa and Doug products too.
I wish I had seen their easels when my son was younger.
We bought one from Play School. It is Red durable plastic with a chalk board on one side and paper on the other .
Each side has a tray for chalk and a crayons. My son loved it. In fact he and his friends still use it to draw diagrams
of snakes, frogs and lizards. Easels are a great toy that you will get many years of use out of.
