Recipes? - Hutchinson,KS

This is kind of a strange question but...

My family is having a reunion and everyone always brings their own types of food (Meat dish, sides, deserts, etc...) I am more of a dessert and candy maker (its what I am best at) I was wondering if anyone could give me some idea's of something new to do. The dessert I am most popular for is a seven layer dessert but it takes a long time to make and a lot of work. Someone had suggested a ice cream cake or pie but I'm not even sure how I would do that.

So I am kind of looking for something AMAZING but also kind of simple at the same time. Also does anyone know a great potato salad recipe? Any help you can give me would be amazing and I'd like to thank you in advance.

(If it is a long recipe or something you don't want to put in a comment feel free to send it in a message)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for all the wonderful idea's!! I can not wait to try every thing, I am very thankful for all of you that helped I was really stuck on what to make.

To Stefani B.-
Honestly I do not care if I messed up spelling something or if it bothered you... I find it absolutely ridiculous that you would read through a question and go to the trouble of commenting to tell them something like that. I have a pet-peeve too and it is people like you. It is one of the reasons I wish mamapedia had a delete button for comments. So thank you, your comment was completely useless to my situation.

My hubby loves my potato salad and it's very simple.
I use red potatoes, red onion, pickles, mayo, horseradish sauce and dry mustard and of course eggs. I garnish with olives and/or paprika. I don't measure anything so can't give you that info...sorry!
dessert: my go-to is apple crisp with caramel sauce and vanilla ice-cream. I have an easy recipe for that if you want it.

Switching from pastry to savory can be, uh, difficult.

Sticking with dessert:

Know how to make truffle stuffed figs? SUPER easy, about $50 per 300 of them (I always laugh till I get cramps when I see them sell for $4 each in catalogues), just very time consuming. Apx 2-4 hours plus about 6 hours in the fridge.

Savory:

Mini Carne Asada

The truffle stffed figs recipe I'l PM on request, I'll post the carne asada recipe after lunch

I find that flourless chocolate tortes are usually pretty easy and look super fancy! I usually use Ghiradelli recipes (or at the very least Ghiradelli chocolate) in my recipes and they turn out great. You could look on their website, they have a ton listed. Topping the torte with fruit (raspberries or strawberries) and homemade whipped cream adds a nice touch. Tirimisu is also pretty easy but looks fancy, but you'll have to have a springform pan. One of my best recipes is a recipe for Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake and it is to die for! I got it off Food Network's website and I've made it a few times to rave reviews!

I don't have it with me but I am sure you can google it, banana split cake. Super easy, transports well, the only thing is you want to make it the day of cause the bananas get brown.

*Ice cream sundae bar. It's just fun. (Caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, mini choc chips, whip cream, m&m's etc.)
*Cookie tower: oreo cookies, chocolate chip cookies, Stella Doro cookies on a fancy silver or glass graduated tower. Just looks fun plus it's like a buffet and you get to have more than one type. Plus it's easy.
*mini donut buffet (purchased or homemade)
*Buy a Whitman's sampler chocolate box (cheaper than See's) and take them out of the box, showcasing them on a silver or glass platter. fun?

my biggest request is triple chocolate cake. devils food cake mix made to package directions, add a pouch of instant chocolate pudding anf a bag of miniature chocolate chips. I cook it in a bundt pan. It comes out moist and fudgey and ridiculous! Dont even need icing. I frost it if it's going to sit in the fridge so it doesnt get dry, otherwise, just serve with whip cream and fresh whole strawberries. The beauty of the bundt pan is you can cut it into servings and arrange on a platter for easy service.
