Rash Input
Wondering if anyone has had an experience with a rash around their belly button.
Over the last year, I had the rash for a few months and it went away. It is now back after about two months. At times, it really itches. Haven't changed anything. Not soap, laundry soap, or clothing (I do not have sensitivity to metal).

HI T.,
I had a weird rash for two years by my belly button, too. I tried all kinds of things. The best I could do was pine tar soap from the health food store. It got really bad when i moved to Puerto Rico from the humidity ( It had started after I went to Hawaii) In PR I went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said it looked like a yeast infection and gave me monostat for it. The rash went away after 10 days. Sometimes I feel it start to flare up so I put some more monostat on it and it doesn't even end up becoming a rash again. Because it was a yeast I was careful to wash it with the pine tar soap and then pat it dry with toilet paper and not my towel, which may spread it...I know scratching it did spread it quickly. YOu can just use the over the counter monostat I used the one for athelete's foot.

Hi T., I would say look into a systemic yeast problem even if you have never had typical yeast infections. I have the same thing and I have been battling systemic candida for a few years now, the rashes come and go. Just look it up on the internet there are a host of symptoms and even a questionnaire to help you determine if you have it. If you do... the absolute Best product I have found (and I have tried all of them) is called ThreeLac. You can buy it on Ebay.

T.,
My daughter gets one when she wears a belt. We found out she is allergic to the nickle in the belt buckle. If your ears puff up when you wear earings also, there is a sensitivity to the metal. Also, Cookie lee makes a liquid that you coat the earings or whatever in, and then you can wear them.

Hi T., I had the same recurring rash in my teens. I used Neosporin and it cleared it up short term. I finally went to the doctor and he diagnosed it as a staff infection and gave me some cream that cleared it up for good. I also found that making sure I dried inside of my belly button helped. Hope this helps. D.

Hard to say without seeing it, but it could be eczema or simply a build-up of dead skin cells. The little critters that live on your skin might be working overtime and their waste, therefore, causing an irritative reaction. Two products I make could help: soft scrub, a lotion and glycerin cleansing base with superfine pumice and essential oils to quickly exfoliate and hydrate skin (I use it on hands and face regularly - helps minimize lines!) and my rash relief, which can help calm many different skin conditions. Please let me know if you'd like to know more.

Hi T.,
I haven't had a rash but have you thought that maybe you have Eczema? That it really itchy and comes and goes depending on stress and sometimes what foods you eat. I treat my son with Cetapil cream and it cures the rash. Good luck!
