So What Happened?

We just got back for the pediatrian. The doctor said that the rash is just his body's reaction to the fever that he had a few days ago. He's fine and it will probably last another day or 2. He's still loving his food so I guess it upset us more then it did him.

K.,
From the symptoms you are describing, it sounds like Roseola (a virus). My son went through the same thing ... high fever for a few days and then a rash all over his body. Go see the doctor, but don't worry about it, it should clear up in a day or two. Here's a link to webmd about roseola: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/tc/rose...

It sounds like Roseola to me. Spiking a fever and then a rash. Check with pediatrician, but it will go away on it's own. This is very common in a child this age.Grandma in Westchester

Hi K., It is now Thursday and you may have your answer already. If your baby is nearly a year it may be roseola. The rash is on the trunk of the body accompanied by a fever, some times high. If it is this the rash is the end and baby will be better in a few days. Hope so, Grandma Mary

could just be the teething.
has he been given any new foods or is any new laundry detergent being used.
it's commom that when children cut teeth they can have a fever.
why don't you call the dr. first and see if you need to bring the baby in.

Hi K. H,

He may have eaten something he is alergic to. Benadril helped my son from a rash he got all over his body by a medication he started. I went to the hospital and all they gave him was benadril. (if thats how you spell it)Anyway it worked. But I would have him checked out first, you don't want to cover symtoms of something else. Good Luck! :)

I'm no pediatrician, but it sounds like roseola to me. My son and his friends all got it around his first birthday. Fever for a few days and then the rash. You can check out this website for more information. http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/skin/roseola.html
But you should call the pediatrician immediately and discuss the symptoms.

Sounds like roseola to me, something that just has to run its c ourse because it is a virus. Of course, it could just be a viral rash that comes with a fever. You are smart to make a dr appointment just to make sure. You don't mention how old the child is, but my son got roseola when he was 7 months (in Jan) and while it was really scary at the time, it didn't last for long. The one thing that did last was that he was very clingy for a few weeks, and wouldn't eat solids, he would only nurse and drink a little juice with water. I would say just keep an eye on him and see what the pediatrician says.

The rash is probably just his body's reaction to the fever and /or whatever he has going on in his body. Both my kids get this. Keep the appt. I'm sure all will be fine. Best of everything!

Yes, my son was sick a week ago with a rash, high fever and he is teething also. They said there is a virus going around and a fever usually lasts 3-4 days then breaks. The rash was associated with fever.
Call your drs. office speak to a nurse. I did and she was right on. The rash left after 4 days and he is happy and well.
