Rainbow Loom Rubber Bands

My daughter recently received a Rainbow Loom and she is quickly going through the colorful rubber bands that she was given with it. Some of her friends use the cheaper knock-off bands while others swear by the actual Rainbow Loom bands. Does your child have a preference? Have you noticed a difference in the two?

What can I do next?

My daughter uses the real ones, we get them from Michael's for less than $4 per bag. It's really not expensive. I'd stick with those.

The rainbow loom bands are a little better. The Learning Express store in Naperville on 59 has a great selection they are $2.99 there and they are $3.99 at Michaels . Its worth a trip to learning express because they have all of the colors .

Oh I forgot to tell you its mandatory to do lunch at Biaggi's with the girls across the street after ! LOL

Oh my...the rubber band craze has hit our home!!

My daughter and son are so into these now. They make them and give them away to friends, neighbors and pretty much anyone that swings by our home... they make them and wear them up to their elbows!!

I am not familiar with the name brand..I just buy random bags of them at Target or at our local craft stores and the kids haven't mentioned any are better or worse. They are just so grateful when I bring home a couple bags every now and then. I love that they make them and give them away..and that they make them together. It really has become a great bonding time for the two of them. Small price to pay at 2.99 a bag.

Happy rubber band shopping!!!

My older son is really into it. I am wearing one of his creations on my wrist right now. I didn't even know there is a knock-off brand. Ha!

We just got the extra bands at Michaels crafts store. They are the only retailer who sells them.

I am now curious and going to read the other comments.

My daughter has various brands.
From the stores around here that sells them.
And she said, that there is one brand that breaks. Just breaks even if it is sitting on a shelf and not worn a lot. The rubberband gets brittle and breaks. This was a bracelet that her friend gave her.

My daughter also made me a couple of bracelets. And I have actually been wearing them, for about a month already, every darn day, without taking it off, and it has not broken at all. But sorry, I forget the brand. But it is not the Rainbow Loom brand, because my daughter does not have the loom. She just buys the packets and uses her own fingers to make and "weave" the bracelets sans loom.

I also bought a pack online via E-Bay, and the rubberbands were fine. My son and his friends have been wearing it and it has not broken.

I didn't know about the knock off brands.... we got our from Michaels when we got the looms. My kids love these things.

I like that my son really enjoys making them because his focus is usually more on large motor skills than small. He loves getting online and trying to make all of the new patterns.

I think they're great~
