Hey All,

Yesterday my daughter got a last-minute invite to a skate party taking place today (I guess their plans were messed up by Isaac). I need to get a present fast! The girl is turning nine, and I haven't met her, so I don't know anything about interests or size or anything! Thanks for the emergency help!

So What Happened?

Thought I'd go to Michael's but ran out of time--got a gift card! Thanks, All! I will use other ideas for other parties!!

(BTW--not a close friend, but a friend, and my daughter didn't start out in K with this crew, so we're building on that!)

My 9 yo and 12 yo love getting cash. lol So we give cash for all their bday's they get invited to. It easier than a gift card, personally, I hate Starbucks and Target, and cash is good anywhere. =)

What about a watch? You can get them for about $10 at Target. Pair that with a book or puzzle, you're golden.

My first instinct when I saw your title... A nine year old boy!! lol!!

Seriously tho, nail polish!! They have some cute sets of crazy colors, etc. and are relatively inexpensive.

Good luck!!

How about just a gift card to a store like Target or Bath and Body Works?

I vote Target gift card. She can get anything she wants there. itunes card, books, journals, games, toys, stuffed animal, earrings, a watch, a purse, sports stuff (pool toys even), even clothing.

My kids LOVE Target gift cards.

Crafts. Head to Target or Michaels. Girls loves crafts. They have everything under the sun from making your own bracelet, to sand art, to t-shirts and purses. Can't go wrong with a craft for a girl that age.

A craft kit. Any kind of craft kit from someplace like Michaels - origami, paint by number, bead making, etc.

Agree on the gift card front - if you have a Justice store near by, my daughter (10) and her friends love that place.

Go with a gift card. Think of your daughter's favorite store and go from there! Do you have 5 Below stores there? $20 would get her 4 things!

You can get gift cards at any convenience type store like cvs or wawa! I'm sure they would understand being last minute.

Gift card to a popular store of that age... bookstore, some kind of clothing store, gift card for iTunes,

Or here, in my city... a person gives the b-day child, dollar bills of the child's age. So $9. And one for good luck, so $10.

Does your daughter know anything about this girl????
Is she friends with this girl?
My daughter was given a last minute invitation by a girl last month. All the girls got the invitation at the last minute. But my daughter opted not to go. It was not a real close friend.

I agree with craft kit. You can get a 40% off Michaels coupon on the internet or on a smartphone app. You can get the kits at Michaels for between $12.99 and $19.99, paired with the 40% off coupon and you're good!

My daughter got gift cards from friends for her birthday, and while my daughter enjoyed receiving them, they didn't make for very exciting opening at the party. For a kid's birthday party, it's all about watching them open an actual present. The girls got very excited over the presents, passing them around and talking about them.

Good luck I'm sure whatever you get will be enjoyed.

Didn't read the other replies, but I always think a board game is a great option for boys and girls.

Go basic craft supplies. A block of clay will cost about $10.00.

It's too often that we get some last minute gift needs. It's gotten to where I keep a large gift bag with some extra generic girls/boys bday cards on hand (stock up at Dollar Tree 2 for $1.00) and a couple of gift cards on hand to Claire's Boutique (ALL age girls love those places), Academy Sports for the boys or girls is always good too. That way they can pick the gift and at that age and in to the teens, they seem to get lots of cards with just money inside or gift cards much more frequently at their parties. At first I felt sort of lazy about that but after realizing lots of parents did it, I was very glad.
