Quick/Cheap/Sweet&Romantic Alternative to JP Wedding

My fiance and I have decided to save the money we would have spent on a wedding and use it more appropriately. We just want to be together, we don't need the frilly ceremony. My uncle can marry us or we can go to the JP. We want to be married asap, like Feb 1st or around then so we can move in together.

Any alternatives to courtroom wedding? If I have a minister in the family?

I really appreciate the help. I know nothing about planning a wedding/event.

We just want something sweet and inexpensive. Minimum family present (parents, siblings, couple friends).

Thank you!

To the best of my knowledge as long as the presiding official can legally marry you, the ceremony can take place anywhere you like. We had the JP come to the hall that we were having our reception at so we had the ceremony followed immediately by the reception. My brother and his wife were married by their minister in a small chapel that they found and then had the reception at their home afterwards. They just had the local BBQ place cater it.

Good Luck,
K.

my friend recently got married at the JP, and invited everyone to a restaurant for afterwards. What started out as just that turned out to be a keeper. They originally was going do a big wedding for their one year anniversary but they were both so pleased with the JP and dinner party afterwards they decided to leave their perfect day as is. She had a really pretty dress that she spent 100 bucks on that she found at a resale shop, they bought a cake enough for the 50 people who said they'd be at the restaurant, we all paid for our own meals and we through her a really nice shower a few days before, came out really nice.

I was married in Laguna Beach, CA at a beautiful public park with a judge presiding.
We invited family and a few friends and afterward, we had a reception at a friend's house.
It was great! There are so many beautiful parks around this area as well as lake conroe, so you have lots of choices. Northshore Park in the Woodlands is beautiful, but there are others! You could have a home reception afterward.

Congratulations!

We got married at about 11am in the office of the pastor who counseled us. About 15-20 others were present, significant family members. I wore a pretty dress; he wore a nice suit. It was exactly what I wanted in a wedding. We have a friend who has a breakfast restaurant that closes around lunchtime. He stayed open for a little bit later and let us have the place to sit and mingle with our friends. That was my wedding day. More tan two months later we had a reception at my mother's house. (My uncle is a chef and would be visiting at that time. He did all the cooking.)

Plan it out just like you are having a family get together. Have food and drinks, a cake (we got ours from walmart)I would BBQ, just cause thats the easiest. You can go to a craft store like hobby lobby or garden ridge they have a wedding aisle so you can get ideas (decorations, favors, table ware. Someone in our neighborhood had a wedding in their yard and they used white christmas lights (not around Chritmas time) around the trees and poles and it looked real pretty at night. You can get a white dress from anywhere, not just a wedding store, to save money. Could you recruit a friend to take pictures, does someone in your family have a beautiful place that you can have your wedding at. Your uncle could marry you at that location, you have to get a marriage license before hand. Congratulations and good luck.
