Question Regarding Trimesters and Months Pregnant...

Since the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have always been confused but never asked any questions. My question is: if I am in my 29th week of pregnancy and due November 25th. I am in my third trimester, right? But what month? Am I in my 6th, 7th or 8th? I have been reading but it just confuses me more.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

L.: My doctor advised not to try to mix the two. Go by weeks because that is what they go by in the medical profession. I have a daily calendar I found online that shows weeks/months pregnant. By that calendar I am in my eight month and am 28 weeks (due December 3rd). I does get very confusing but I have tried to stick to weeks. Hope this helps.

There are differing rules on the exact timing. I'm 13 weeks and in limbo between the first and second according to differing opinions on this. According to the "Mayo Clinic Complete Book of Pregnancy and Baby's First Year" a huge text book my OB/Gyn gave me it says "The First trimester lasts 12 weeks, the second from 13 to 27 weeks, and the third from 28-40", so yes, you are in the third trimester.

I think you're in the seventh month.

I think the "month" question is a little harder to answer because it is so confusing - am I three months pregnant at the end of the third month, or the beginning? I think most doctors don't even refer to "months" anymore since the week number is more accurate and easy to follow, of course then it gets confusing because some talk about weeks since conception and other talk about Gestational age which starts with the first day of your last period.

I hope this helps!

This is how I have always understood it

weeks 1,2,3,4 = month 1
weeks 5,6,7,8 = month 2
weeks 9,10,11,12 = month 3
weeks 13,14,15,16=month 4
weeks 17,18,19,20 = month 5
weeks 21,22,23,24 = month 6
weeks 25,26,27,28 = month 7
weeks 29,30,31,32= month 8
weeks 33,34,35,36 = month 9
weeks 37,38,39,40 = month 10

Week 1 starts with the first day of your last period, and week 3 (approximately) being when you ovulate.

First off CONGRATS! :) I may be mistaken, I did just work four nights of night shift and on my way to bed...but I figured you to be in your 7th month. You actually carry 9 whole months, making your due date the last day of 9months/1st day of 10 months. There are approx. 4 weeks a month, you carry for 40 weeks (suppose to anyways, rarely turns out to be exactly 40). 40/4=10 (giving you that due date on the first day of the 10th month.) You are 29 weeks along so 29/4=7.25 months (giving you how far along you are.)
I hope this helps some. :)

Most things I have read say that is the third trimester, but realistically, doctors today go more by week than trimester or month anyways. I wouldn't stress too much about it - and think only a little bit left until you meet your new love!

Congratulations!

If you're due date is November 25, then you likely got pregnant about February 25. So you're into your 7th month (barely).

My first daughter's due date was November 14, and second daughter's due date was November 28 -and both were with the help of a dr. so we pretty much knew.

most doctors go by a 10 month pregnancy. months 1-3 are the first trimester, 4-7 are the 2nd & 8-10 are the third.

No book I ever found agrees.
