Question for Wine Drinkers!
Hello! I'm making a sangria mix and it just says to add red wine and water. Any suggestions for a brand/type of red wine that would be good? The mix is from a company called Tastefully Simple. Thanks for any help you can give!

So What Happened?™
Thanks, everyone! The mix calls for a lot of wine and a little bit of water, then you freeze it to make more of a Sangria Slush. I'll still make it for the party (since it's a Tastefully Simple show!) but now you've all inspired me to try ACTUAL Sangria with your suggestions! :-D

I like rum or brandy - NO WATER!!!! You don't want watered down wine. You want cheap wine enhanced with more flavor and alcohol by fruit and hard liquer!

I'm a super taster... LOVE $40-$5000 bottles of wine. I would NEVER put one in sangria.
For sangria I use "3 buck chuck" from Trader Joes.
The water part in your recipe concerns me. Every sangria I've ever made calls for ginger ale (red sangria) or juice (sangria made with sparkling wine).

Make sure to float lots of fresh fruit in it - strawberries, oranges, even watermelon are yummy in sangria.
Any decent red wine- pick one that is not too dry, and maybe has fruity tones to it.
And lots of ice - sangria is best chilled.

I just made the tastefully simple sangria fro easter. i only added 1.5 bottles of red wine (cabernet...b/c that is what we had in the house). i also added orange slices. it was still too strong from me so then i also added a can of sierra mist. it was PERFECT for our taste! good luck!
And we get our wine from aldi's....it is called winking owl...$2.99!

My husband drinks "cheap/sweet red wine" (I never touch the stuff). It's Riunite Lambrusco.

when I make sangria I just use a bottle of cheap red wine, and I love the wines that come from the wineries in our area. Or you could ask the person behind the counter at the liquor store, they know it all!!!!
