Question About Weight Loss...
Does anyone know if you can actually see a dr. about weight loss? I don't have a general practioner since we recently moved here and don't want to sound like an idiot when I call in...
I had my 4th dd recently (3 pregnancies/deliveries in 3 years) and have about 50lbs to lose to get back to a healthy size - this wouldn't even put me back at prepregnancy weight! This is just to get healthy...
Is there anything a dr. can prescribe to help you lose weight? I am working out and watching my portion size, not eating much meat and still not losing any weight. Im so frustrated...I put on a lot of this weight after we lost a child - too depressed to care basically...if that makes any sense.
Any suggestions about asking dr. about weight loss?

I actually know of a company that has the best vitamins that will help you achieve the nutrients you need as well as the energy you need to make the changes you are looking for. They also have the best weight loss products. I lost all of my baby weight and more. To request the info go to http://www.gogreenwebcast.com/gagreen . It really is amazing!

First of all, congratulations on wanting to get healthy. That is definitely the first step. What helped me was www.caloriecount.about.com. So far I have lost 15 pounds and completely changed the shape of my body. This website is completely free to join. You enter in all your information about your weight and body type, lifestyle type, etc and it will tell you how many calories you should be eating per day in order to lose weight. Then you can enter in all the foods you eat and it will tell you how many calories are in them and it keeps track of them. You can also enter your activities and it will tell you how many calories you burned. My calorie limit is 1300 per day. I also work out 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day. Mon, Wed, Fri I do cardio (walk on the treadmill as fast as you can) and Tues & Thurs I do weights. Watching portion size is important, but no as important as watching the type of food you are actually eating. Before I started keeping track of my food, I had no idea how much unhealthy food I was eating. Some things I thought were ok, were really really high in calories. The most important thing to remember is that it is not about going on a diet, because diets don't work. As soon as you go off the diet you will gain all the weight back. It is about a lifestyle change. Just learning to eat healthy and excercise regularly. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Good luck.

Actually, eating more protein will help you lose weight. Try shifting to more proteins - and no I am not talking about the atkins diet! Aim for 120 grams of protein per day - lean. Eat 4 or 5 times per day and to get the 120 grams in you will need protein at every email. Try that first for a couple of weeks just to get used to having more protein - you will be surprised at how much that is. Then, shift to same amount f protein but keep a food journal and keep your calories at 1500 per day. Just count calories and protein. ( always lean protein). Add in a minimum of 20 minutes of Cardio where you get your heart rate at 130 approx. See how that works!

You can definitely go to the dr about wanting to lose weight. Most likely they dr will do a full physical and blood work to make sure you are otherwise healthy and don't have any medical conditions (thyroid, diabetes, etc) that would impede your weight loss. There are medicines drs can prescribe, however, many doctors won't do it. I'm sure there are weight loss clinics in your area also that can help you out (and many will take insurance if your insurance covers it).

I know that my mom did Weight Watchers and is now working there. When she went to her yearly doctor, they told her that if she didn't lose weight, it's putting her health and life in jeopardy. They wrote her a prescription for Weight Watchers and she was able to use it as a tax deduction. You have to take the prescription to Weight Watcher and retain all of your monthy membership receipts, but she lost 85 pounds with them and kept it off. I've been doing it for 4 weeks and have lost 12lbs. I highly recommend it.

Sure, any general practioner can prescribe Meridia or other weightloss drugs. You could also get Alli over the counter, but be sure that you are aware of all of the side effects, some of which can be quite nasty!
I would recommend that you join Weight Watchers. After my third child was born, I lost 40 lbs with them. I've kept it off for over 7 years now (although I don't go to meetings anymore). That way, you can learn about journaling your food intake, eating healthy, portion control, exercising, and get all the support and encouragement you need. Because, honestly, at some point, you'll have to stop taking the pills. You can do this on your own. Good Luck!

Look at transitions lifestyles. This program is amazing. I had 3 kids in 4 years and needed help. This program not only helped me lose the weight but I have kept it off. You can work with a coach who specializes in it. Let me know if you want more info and I can help you find a coach in your area.
