I don't get that connection either. Now, there are some porno's with disgustingly skinny chicks with no hips, no boobs, who looks like a 12 year old boy (yes, totally shaved), THAT's gross.

But a nice, curvy, feminine woman who shaves... there's no way you could mistake a REAL WOMAN for being a little girl. I J. don't see it!

I think the 'TMI' factor goes along with the fact that we're talking about our lady parts... which I also find hard to believe because we all have them, and we're all moms, ergo: EVERYONE'S SEEN IT ALREADY, LOL!!

My husband , Bless his heart, has always said he finds it strange when men like women with no curves and hairless.. He says it is as if they are dreaming of being with a prepubescent girl.

He says as a teen, "most boys dream of breasts hips and soft curves.. Not teen boy bodies.. " Have a boy draw a woman vs drawing a girl..

I also could care less what others do down there. It is none of my business, I J. know what my husband and I like. As long as we are on the same page.. no problems here.

I would not say leaving it the way it is or shaving it all off is "gross". It is more confusing, actually. What confuses M. is the regular women who shave all of off on a regular basis to feel "clean". What does that mean? I use tampons because it's cleaner but I take a shower and wash my head hair on a regular basis, therefore it is clean. I do not have to shave the hair on my head to feel "clean". The one time I shaved down there it was so itchy and then it looked gross growing in like a 5:00 shadow. And yes, it does look like a child if it is shaved off completely. No judgements past that, but let's be honest. Personally, I like to keep it trimmed up, nothing peaking out of a bathing suit at all. That is gross! It is become long then it irritates the um, "inside part". LOL

Actually, IMO, shaving any part of a post-pubescent female body DOES equate to looking like prebubescent girls.

What's the big deal with the way some people feel? I'm sure you have things that don't appeal to you, and you owe no one an explanation for your feelings. It so happens that shaving a vagina bald doesn't bother you. Armpits and legs are not sex organs, at least not for us they aren't. I don't remove all the hair on my vagina because I see no need to. I groom certain parts of my body the way I do because it's all about what "I" think looks good.

ETA: You and Rachel D. think it's weird or whatever that some women do not want their vagina shaved bare, but what she described is also a matter of preference. J. because a guy likes skinny, flat-chested girls doesn't mean he's a perv either. Unless a person tells you otherwise, it's simply a matter of preference. :)

I think some people want to find perversion in everything. I also think that thought process is a perversion of its own.

Women are lucky, the hair tends not to creep up the shaft. Guys don't want to floss while they...and they are perverts? I don't think so.

A woman feels cleaner they are trying to attract pedophiles, I don't think so.

The only time I have ever been taken aback by shaving was when a friend of mine told M. her husband wouldn't even come near her unless she was totally clean shaven, because pubic hair was disgusting...I was kind of like, whoa! and did think it a little strange that a grown man would be 'grossed out' by a perfectly natural womanly body and only be 'turned on' by clean-shaven parts. BUT, I wasn't in the bedroom with them, so who should I care?
To each his own, I guess :)

from what I have found.. most men prefer it. ( not saying I have slept around... but it has come up in conversation. When you have more guy friends than female ones.. yes it comes up)

For the female, I think its all about what you prefer. I hate hair!! I get so grossed out by it.. I hate when the hair on my head sheds and I even have that hair on M.. I can't stand my hair touching my ears or the base of my neck ( and I have hair past my shoulders.. but more because my hubby likes it better that way). I can't stand hairy men! I can't stand hairy chests or backs. I really don't care for thier leg hair either lol But I married a man with a hairy chest.. thankfully no back hair!! I got use to it after a while. My ex had no hair ( well like 3) on his chest and had always trimmed or shaved down there. That was his personal prefrence. Not one time out of the 6 years we were together did I ever think about having sex with a preteen when we were together!

I don't get it either...

Cupcake Sweet said it best. Especially the part about the armpits and legs not being sexual organs.

I read in a medical report that the reason that male and female pubic hair is there is to prevent friction during intercourse. There is a reason down through evolution since the time we were created for everything about our bodies. That includes the changes during and after puberty.

I agree with you 100%. And FTR, I shave down under every now and again to change things up in the bedroom. My husband appreciates a different look and feel every now and again, as do I. Nothing kinky or weird about it, IMO, and cheaper and less of a commitment than, say, buying a new outfit or changing my hair color (on my head LOL - how funny is a thread when you have to specify that)? It's nice to be able to change things up a bit from time to time.

I think its a justification for not wanting to spend the time to do it, honestly. For M., its a maintenance issue for sure. I J. don't want to take the time to shave, so I let my garden grow. My husband doesn't care either way. I don't need to make up an excuse not to do it because who cares? It only matters what God thinks of M., and he sure as heck isn't keeping inventory on my pubes!

It bugs M. to no end when people talk about shaving the vagina....physically IMPOSSIBLE to do. It is the VULVA that one shaves if one does shave.
As for people saying it looks like a little girl when women do it really need to step back and look again. I mean really an adult woman clean shaven does not look like a little girl. It baffles M. that people try to make that connection and try to put a dirty spin on something that people choose to do for their own personal reasons.
As for why it grosses some people out...well look at it this way. Lots of things that people sexualize gross them out. Look at how people react to shows that talk about their turn ons..like people who are into balloon play or food play. Same thing with those that shave. It is something different to what they consider normal and so they judge it.

Actually in the past (I believe the 60s) there were MANY discussions about shaving armpits and legs and how that was 'not natural', not liberated, etc. There were points on both sides - was this about 'men's desires' or was it about having choices about one's own body? I am sure there was more but I was not born yet.

I suspect most of us on this website are younger than these discussions and have simply grown up when shaving pits and legs was the 'norm' (not normal, but the statistical majority option). Also - shaving pits and legs is much more about fashion while shaving 'down there' is clearly not about fashion. It may be in 20 years that we all (men and women) shave everything - or that we are back to all being hairy apes :). Who knows?

Personally... I J. hate body hair, on M. and on my man (But you won't catch him shaving anything but his face). Anything except the hair on my head needs to be shaved on a regular basis, for my own personal happiness.

My husband likes to give M. oral sex, a lot... I LOVE to receive oral sex, a lot...
**I can guarantee that no one here likes to have hair in their mouth while they are eating.,..**
It has nothing to do with prepubescents or anything like that, and I find it insulting and irritating when people say that about M. or my husband.
I think people are WAY to uptight about sex and human bodies...

My answer was this:
Shaved bald :)
Have been for nearly 20 years, started when I was a teenager.
I prefer it, I feel cleaner and fresher.
Not so many hygiene issues during my period.
And when I have let it go for a bit, like when I was pregnant I felt sweaty and itchy and dirty and gross...
to the point that while I was pregnant I made my hubby shave it all off down there. LOL
