I'm from up north and grew up with a pumpkin patch that had apples, pumpkins, hay rides. They made fresh donuts, cider and more on site. Is there any place in Texas that does this? Or up in Oklahoma? I would be willing to take a short drive to get my kids to a place like this, (I just cant afford the trip back to Michigan for the one I grew up with). Thanks in advance.

So What Happened?

It's still up in the air as to which one we are going to go to but it's good to read that we all have those great childhood memories of the northern pumpkin patches. :-) Kind of makes me home sick this time of year. I did find one online up in Aubrey located at 736 Rock Hill Road Aubrey, TX 76227. It said that they are $7 per person and that they have hayrides, pumpkin patch, country market with homemade goodies. Here is what's stated on the website: Inside, one can shop for Halloween novelties, many of them made on the farm, and a variety of delicious fall treats, including apple butter bread, pumpkin nut bread, and hot spiced apple cider. If anyone is interested the web address is www.aubreypumpkinpatch.com click on the tabs to the left to read about it. I look forward to what others may know about this one and other ones. Thank you all. :-)

I am in agreement with a lot of other posters. I just haven't found anything close to what I grew up with. I am also from Michigan and have been looking. We have gone to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch several years in a row but it is definitely not comparable to the MI pumpkin patches.

I'm originally from the Chicago area, they have no clue what cider donuts or fresh pressed apple cider are around here-I've been here for 6 years and I've looked. There are few pick your own orchards around here and most are closed to the public this year because they ended up losing the majority of their crops to the wet windy weather. Sigh! As far as pumpkin patches the one in Grapevine/Colleyville on Hall Johnson Road would be my pick for a favorite. The one in Flower Mound is insane!

I'm originally from upstate NY and miss those places too! I loved watching them make the fresh cider and eating cake donuts. I guess because it is too warm to grow apples here in TX, our pumpkin patches just have pumpkins and hayrides. My kids still enjoy them.

We just went to Hall's Pumpkin farm in Grapevine, I loved it better than the Flowermound one. When we went there were TONS and I mean TONS of bees flying around it was awful, I'll never go back there again.

But at Hall's pumpkin patch it has hot apple cider, kettle corn, and corn on the cobb. They also have a corn maze which I thought was so much fun and Hay rides. They are opened 3 pm until 10. I recommend it! The kettle corn was so yummy! Its free admission, but refreshments, pumpkins, hay ride, and maze will cost you.

There is a gteat patch in Flower Mound off of 1171. We have gone there for the last four years and we love it! We actually went there Saturday and my children had a blast... I know they open at nine on the weekends, but I'm unsure what time they open during the week..

Hiya. Not sure about the cider, doughnuts etc.. but this is where we take our kids for pumpkins.

http://www.flowermoundpumpkinpatch.com/home.html It's free to get in, there is food, a hay ride, bounce houses, a little train they can ride too. Its all free, except the food and pumpkins of course. Lots of cute picture opps and a pond/lake. We have alot of fun. They also do a Christmas Tree Farm each year. Not sure if this is something you'd be interested in or not, b ut thought I'd share!

No suggestions from me, but I am interested in what others might suggest. I grew up in New England, and like you, "pumpkin patches" have a different meaning for me than what they really are around here (I, too, am used to apples, cider, donuts) ...

I'm hoping someone has a great suggestion :)

I haven't been to one up north since I was little, and I still remember them. The days were always cold and we would have our donuts and cider. The pumpkin patches that I have been to do not have those. My daughter still really enjoys them. I know it is all about the experience. I remember it from 25 years ago. If you can't find one, we go to Hall's Pumpkin Farm or there is a patch in Flower Mound. Both offer hay rides and have websites to look at. Good luck!

Miller Farm I think is the name of one out of Bullard Texas. Bit of a drive and don't think they have apples but is reportedly rather nice place.

There is an apple orchard in Keller, Henrietta Creek Orchard, but like an earlier poster said, their crop was reduced due to the wind and they are only doing field trips this fall. But save the name and you may be able to go next year.

I know what you mean about the cider and donuts. I grew up in Michigan too and we also went to the cidar mill in the fall. I took my kids a couple of years ago when we still had an October break from school. Great memories!
