Side effects I had were nausea. I had morning sickness anyway, and they made it worse - that was the tablets. Then for my second, they gave me the suppositories due to my nausea. It still hiked it, but not as much. I took them to prevent miscarriage, just in case, since I'd had a history of m/c. It doesn't really prevent it completely, because if you miscarry, it can make you retain the "result of conception" longer, but it was worth it to me. I got to keep two healthy ones!!!

I used the suppositories during infertility treatments to sustain my pregnancy. I was extremely nauseous during the 1st trimester, but I do not think it was related to the progesterone. The worst part was that it was messy and I never really felt clean while using them. However, when I consider that it gave my baby a better chance of making it through the 1st trimester, it was worth it! Good luck.

Hi R.,
When I was 5 weeks pregnant, I was put on progesterone suppositories also. My levels were at 11 even and I had a miscarriage a few months before that. I thought it was weird that I had to go to an "apothecary" to get them! I didn't know those existed anymore. Anyway, I was on them through my first trimester and I did not have any side effects whatsoever from them. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy 7 weeks ago!

Hi R., I used suppositories as well and I am pregnant now and have been having to use pills, but with the suppositories, there should not be any side effects and should not effect the baby at all.

Hi R.,

I used them when I was pregnant with both of my children. I had miscarriages and was unable to conceive for 10yrs. I had a nutritionist and then later a Gynecologist that it was a lack of Progesterone. They think that I actually had several miscarriages over the years but only two that were documented. When I miscarried the first time I ordered an autopsy and it was determined that it was because of a lack of progesterone to the baby. I was told that progesterone was vital for the baby's growth.

So all that to say their was no question for me on whether I was going to have it. I have two beautiful children and thankful that there was something to help me sustain those pregnancies.

I do remember them making me a little tired and pretty messy. I always had to use a pantiliner. I also used my finger because it was a lot easier and less uncomfortable. But with my daughter I remember I did not know I could use my finger. With my son I became wiser, more confident, and asked more questions. Like finding out exactly how far it had to go in etc....

However, I had another miscarriage between my daughter and son and do remember them having to change the strength or grade of the suppositories because I was extremely nauseated but everything about that pregnancy was different and eventually I lost the baby. I was never sick like that where I could not function with my two successful pregnancies.

You may have to look into that if you need to. But it is extremely worth it. I seem to remember I used them for a long time! I want to say until my 4th or 5th month? Oh, I also remember just using them at night with my son.

If you would like to talk more send me an e-mail I would love to help/encourage in any way possible. I had awesome deliveries especially with my daughter. It was painless! Truly Blessed and Super Natural! I could recommend a book if your interested.

Blessings on your pregnancy and delivery!
A.

I used them with both of my pregnancies...it was the only way I was able to keep a pregnancy. I did gain about 10 lbs immediately from them, but that was it. I was supposed to do one at night and one in the morning....I did both at night thru my 12th week.
I wish you luck.

I had to use these as well, to keep my pregnancies going. I used them for the whole first trimester. The suppositories are the best form of progesterone to take, the most natural. I usually started on the pills until I got a positive pregnancy test and then switched to the suppositories. Like the other people, I got tired from them. Really helped at night though! They can be messy too, so you might need a panty liner. I didn't notice any stomach upset with them at all.

Hi R.,

I used them to prevent further miscarraiges. I used an ovulation calculator and started using them when I was ovulating. I used them until about 15 weeks (weaning myself off in the last two weeks). I didn't notice any side effects and now I have a beautiful 18 month old daughter who is just as amazing as her big brother. Good Luck.

I was on progesterone suppositories a few times while trying to concieve. This last time I was on the suppositories until my 7 weeks of pregnancy. I did not have any major side effects. I was tired. I would insert the suppositories with my finger not with the applicator you might receive with the prescription. I did get a yeast infection from using the applicator.

Hi R.-
The progesterone will help prevent a miscarriage. The reason for most first-term miscarriages is a progesterone deficiency in the mother. I had a bunch of them (miscarriages), finally left my stress-inducing job, went to bed when I was not at work, and succeeded in having a baby. (The meds you are describing were not available- give thanks that they're out there now.) Progesterone is very needed by your body, and to keep you pregnant. It is extremely unlikely that there will be side effects harmful to your baby. You will, like most of us, get mommy-brain- a hormone-related condition which tends to sap energy, aggressiveness, and academic smarts :-) Babies are worth it! I hope thaat all remains well with you and your baby. it sounds like you have a good Dr. S.

I was on progesterone suppositories when I was pregnant with my daughter. I had a miscarriage on a previous pregnancy and my levels were low on the next one, so to be safe, the doctor put me on the suppositories too. I had no side effects. The only drag was having to do it, but other than that, it was no big deal. My daughter is now a healthy 3-year old. Just do it and don't worry about it. Worrying has worse side effects than the suppositories! Good luck.

I used them with my last pregnancy. I did not notice any side effects other than I felt a little more tired than I had in my previous pregnancies.

I took progesterone pills with both of my pregnancies because my levels were low. I wouldn't worry about it, the benefits (saving your baby possibley) far outweigh the side effects.
