Nail polish, lip gloss, for a nicer prize maybe sunglasses,a beach towel, sunscreen, vizor/hat, and candy is always kids favorite.

I like the gift card idea. A friend did that with $5 gift cards to Starbucks, Jamba Juice and the local ice cream place. Have fun!

You could probably find a whole bunch of things in Target's dollar section or the Dollar Store (I'm in Chicago, but assume they have some type of discount store everywhere). I've recently seen items like flip flops, flavored lip balms with sun screen, pony tail holders or hair bandanas-all items that say "summer". If you have a Claire's store nearby, I am sure you can find flip flop earrings & necklaces and those would be cute as well. Also, check Orientaltrading.com-the possibilities there would be endless.

Not sure what budget you have in mind but cute beach towels rolled up tied with cute ribbon bow would be fun. What about getting flip flops from joannes craft store and the ribbons/gems to decorate them. that could be a favor and craft activity to do at the party. or you could make up a few ahead of time as a prize. I think they have a whole aisle dedicated to this. They also have tanks that r less than $5 and cute decals/sparkles that r iron-on. Cute summer pool mugs or cups with pre-packaged smoothie mix inside and or a bundle of otter pops tied with cute ribbon. Girls love nailpolish right? what about a cute color with one of those nail art paint pens or the gems/crystals to decorate. Walgreens has some cute nail art stuff. Itunes gift cards, gift card to useat local waterpark or pool, tote bags for pool stuff....

There was a pack of 4-5 $5 gift coins the last time I went to Target. They would be great for that age because it's hard to find inexpensive nice prizes. Also you could make up little mani-pedi packs with polish and stuff. Just as an idea I though I'd mention that a ball makes a cute invite. I had no idea you could mail a bouncy ball, but my son just got one in the mail for his b-day. It was cute I wonder if you could mail a frisbee? OK I have to stop. I love planning my sons parties and often get carried away. Good Luck!

I saw someones idea for beach towels and this week old navy has some decent ones on sale for $5.

Create a little spa gift basket, WalMart and Target has really cheap litle items like face masks and little nail polishes and nic nacs.

G.,
I'd suggest an age appropriate book (maybe one from a tween/teenage series), iTune gift card or even the sudoku puzzles; orienaltrading.com has the electronic sudoku puzzle and it's very reasonably priced.

Hi G.,
Every year we have a surfer theme party for my son and I have always found cool stuff at Oriental Trading (or traders??) .com - VERY reasonable prices, fast shipping and different stuff for all sorts of parties. I also found some fantastic hemp & shell necklaces in bulk on ebay. Have fun with it! M.

I have a daughter turning 11 in July. We are giving reusable aluminum water bottles as favors we will fill it with candy and tie a ribbon with a tag with each girls name as well as the definition of their name. i.e. Abigail: Joy of God. You could fill them with mini bottles of sunscreen, chapstick etc.

Ask you daughter. She might have some great ideas.

Depending on the number of games, and your budget, how about gift cards for $12 at Target, or some other coveted place.

Lip gloss or chapstick and hair ties is a great idea...very summery. I like to stick to a theme! You could also do pool toys or beach balls as prizes, they still like those things at 12 right!? You can get inflatable balls cheap, cheap at US Toy or Oriental Trading Co.
