I am planning a dinner and casino night for my brother's company...They will play for chips and use the chips to bid on prizes...I NEED IDEAS!!! I thought I had great ideas: wine basket, his/her gift basket from the resort (where we're hosting a round of golf the morning of the dinner), dinner for 2, etc. He liked them - just didn't LOVE them. On HIS list - he has iPads (3), iTouch (3), golf clubs, a round of golf at the resort. His budget is more than I would ever be able to afford in any capacity - so my thinking is small. Does anyone have any ideas? He'd like to spend about $250 - $300 per gift. HELP! I have this weekend to come up with something creative and catchy b/c I'm purchasing on Monday and Tuesday. I have two other ideas: Autographed sports memorabilia of some sort or a mini humidor box with a variety of cigars? I don't know...He wants gifts for men and women. Put on your thinking caps mamas and help me out!!! :) ON A NOTE: He is the OWNER of the company - iPads are the "big" items...and I agree...I'm not a golfer...I think he's trying to find things ladies would like...I love the spa - dinner - dance lessons...What would YOU want to bid on if you were at a silent auction.

What can I do next?

what is your budget per gift?
his is definitely outrageous! lol, i pads! good grief!

if you are looking for less than 100 per, thats fairly easy!

movie night at home basket, with popcorn, sodas, candy and a couple of new blu rays or dvds

classic date night package. $50 gift card for a local restaurant and two premier movie tickets for your local theater, and a $20 gift card for drinks and snacks from the concession stand.

Cheaper versions of the electronics he mentioned, or find uses ones on Craigslist.com (i am not above a used ipad esp if its free)

gift cards for various restaurants or boutiques, who wouldn't want a 100 gift card?
you can often find good deals on gift cards at Costco, do they have Costco in Florida? or Amazon.com
they also have awesome gift baskets at Costco. you can even try their online store.

good luck!

dont worry too much, usually when people are getting free stuff they arent very picky about it!

Well, you can get the iPod Touch for his price range, not the iPad, a nice driver perhaps and probably a round of golf.....how many gifts total? It's OK to have 2-3 big ticket items and some more modest ones (dinner for two, wine basket). I think your stuff & his stuff together sounds fine.

$250 to $300 a gift?? WOW! You could get a small flat screen TV for that price.

Gift cards to department stores, restaurants, spa packages, hotel nights, amusement park tickets but they are probably closing soon, blu ray player, check into memberships to maybe Sam's Club or Costco??

Jewerly or better for a man or woman a gift certificate to a nice jewerls. A certificate to a Photographer ( a really nice one ). In Texas you can get a pedi for about ten dollars. Perhaps a gift certificate there. Truffles are the new thing. If you can find some great tasting chocolate truffles presented as a gift. You might even be able to find sponsers to donate gifts. Like a mom and pop store donate some sort of home decor as a bit of advertizing for there business. I love the movies but its getting so expensive to go a fifty dollar gift certificate or movie pass would be great. Most women love purses.

In addition to the great ideas already mentioned:

Cleaning services

Flower of the month club (if it exists?)

Some kind of prepared meal service

Guess I'm all about somebody cooking and cleaning my house for me while I wait for someone to bring me flowers! Ooh, tell my husband!

spa definitely - manicure, pedicure, facial, massage

trip somewhere? or tickets to a local place - Disney World?

jewelry!!!

Target gift card

Amazon gift card

Blue-Ray player

A very nice purse - Coach or whomever

(I would not be happy to win dance lessons gift certificate. That would be a something I'd post to give away on Craigslist)

I'm sorry, but i'm a bit confused. This is for your brothers company? Is he/his company supplying the money for the items? If so sit with him over the weekend and go over exactly how much he will need to give you to get the items he wants.

It sounds like he has big plans. But to me the interest range is small. I don't play golf so a round of golf would be sold or go in the trash. I'm not interested in an ipad or itouch so I'd trash it or sell it. I would like a spa day complete with massage. A dinner for two with a nice bottle of wine, drinks and dancing would be great. If he's going so far as to think ipads or itouches then a 3-4 day cruise would be better. Maybe a family admission to a theme park. A week or two of ballroom dance lessons. I think he needs to broaden the interest of his prizes. The ones he has come up with fit a certain portion of the population but it doesn't fit a wide spectrum of interests.

Well - if you are going to get that type of stuff, that is high dollar you normally have just one or 2 of those things that are kind of like the grand prize!

Is this a fund raiser or is it just a company dinner employee motivation type thing?? What is your budget?? How many people are coming? How many prizes are you planning on auctioning off?? There are lots of things that factor in to the mix.

I would probably try to go to a spa of some sort and see if they would give a gift certificate for a service of some sort at a discounted price. Same with the above high dollar items. Although it's more likely that you would be able to get a donation or a discount if you were doing it for some sort of charity. You can do gift certificates for restaurants in your area.......Maybe one to a womens clothing store, one for Best Buy, then people could use it towards whatever they want. You could even do one less gift and put two prizes together and buy a 3 day cruise for 2 to mexico for that much money!! (at least if you live in CA, which I just noticed that you don't - but I am sure there is somewhere near Florida that you could do a 3 day cruise to for pretty cheap.) There is a place called Little St. Simon's Island out there that you might be able to get a gift certificate for??

I think it would be better to do some small gifts, some medium gifts, and then some really big gifts instead of all the gifts being around the same dollar amount. Some people are not going to win as much money as others on the game tables so they might not have as much money to bid on the bigger items - know what I mean?? Anyways, I wish you the best - have fun shopping with someone else's money!! : ) I hope he is getting you a great big present for helping him out so much
