Help! We moved to Forest Park from the city and I have not been happy with the doctors we found for the kids. I really miss private practice and am looking for really great Pediatricians in the Oak Park, FOrest Park, River Forest area ... I want someone that really cares about the kids, considers the parents and spends enough time to ask the right questions. Any advice is welcome.

So What Happened?

I wanted to thank everyone for their responses! After thinking about it for a long time I decided to try Pedios. We went today for the first time (it was a sick visit) and I was really impressed! The front desk staff was so nice and the office was great - the kids did not want to leave :)

The most important part was that the nursing staff and doctors were amazing! I really felt comfortable and happy when we left. They said they call after sick appointments to make sure the kids are doing better - that is amazing to me!

Thanks again everyone!

My trio are seen by Dr. Hannah Chow at Loyola, North Riverside and she's great. I've also had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Barbados and she's great too - same office.

I have to tell you- I went through 3 in the oak park/forest park/river forest area. The first one was a total bomb!

The second one I absolutely loved- Dr Deborah Manus (Oak Park) absolutely great personality with the baby/kids... we had to switch due to our switching to HMO (her practice does not accept HMO). Highly recommended!

Third one is really good too. Took a little time to warm up- he probably was wondering why my son had 3 doctors in less then 1 1/2 years. Both number 2 and 3 have great reputations in the physician community.

Try Doctor Manus- if that doesn't work, drop me a message and I will give you the name of the third.

I have been with Dr. Wegner at Pedios in Oak Park for over 5 years. We switched there from another local pediatrician due to long waiting times and our original doctor left that practice. I have found them to be very interested in the whole family issues that can affect the kids, and of course, they are very attentive and helpful with my childrens health concerns. Even the nurses are very involved and so caring about the kids. In addition, there is rarely a wait and they really get you in when you have an unexpected urgent visit. Go in for a visit and see what you think. All of the doctors there are really great with the kids - we also like Dr. Hawkness there too.

I too had trouble finding someone good but have found that the doctors at Pedios Ltd on Chicago ave are great. ###-###-#### Dr. Klaus there has been great with my little guy. The office is not the prettiest or fanciest but it is clean and they take good care of the kids. I have always had a quick responses when I had a question and have been able to get appointments when I need them.

I LOVE Dr. Mary Hutton, Dr. Michael Kyle and Dr. Ingrid Liu in Oak Park. They are located on North Ave. on the Oak Park side somewhere around OP Ave. Dr. Hutton has been my dr. for 16 years and also all 3 of my children's doctor since they were born. Now they are 10,11 and 13. Everyone in the practice is great! I am always able to bring in a sick child within an hour or so of calling. Their phone no. is ###-###-####. I know it by heart.

Looks like everyone beat me to the bunch. Pedios is phenominal. I know several people who use them; the doctors are wonderful (and they are clients of mine!) Apparently others think they are awesome as well, and I think they take most insurance plans. Good luck, C. B.

We just moved to Elmwood Park from the city and I refuse to switch doctors. We go to Northwestern and it only takes us about 20 minutes to get there, which is about the same as when we lived in the city. Depending on where your Dr is located, you may want to stick with him/her if you like them.

Hi Heather. I live in Oak Park and have an 8 month old boy. Because of our insurance, we were limited to pediatricians. Luckily we found Ad-Park Pediatric Associates, S.C. They are located right near, but not affiliated with, Rush Oak Park Hospital. There are 6 pediatricians in the office, and so far, the 4 we've met have been really good. My son is only 8 months so I've only been to the doctor a few times, but I never wait in the waiting room, I've called a couple of times with questions and the nurses have talked to me for extended periods of time, and most importantly, if I want a quick appointment, I can get in the same day. They also have a 24-hour emergency number. So far I've been really happy. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Love, love, love Robin Uchitelle.

My whole family has been seeing her for almost 10 years now and we're very happy. I know, I would guess, about a dozen other famiilies who go there and like her (people I knew already and over time have run into in the waiting room). I have also recommended her to others and they have been most pleased.

One nice thing about her, is that she works well with different patient styles--I am not a big fan of antibiotics and we wanted a different vaccination schedule and she completely supports us. A friend I recommended is much more traditional and quick to use medical intervention and she is very happy with the care she's getting as well. Dr. Uchitelle will of course give you her opinion but is also very respectful of her patients and their preferences.

Hope this helps. She has a family practice; I started going to her when my daughter, who was a few months old, was having some scary medical issues. This was after trying a few other people in the area.

We are very happy with the family practice doctors at 6645 W. North Ave., Oak Park, ###-###-####. Dr. Mary Hutton is the best (great with our 3-yr-old daughter, my husband, and myself and has been very supportive of and kind to all of us). She *really* listens. The other doctors are terrific too.

I see you have lots of recommendations for Pedios; I do have friends that are quite happy with them, too.

Good luck!

Pedios is the only way to go in Oak Park. They were my pediatricians growing up and now that I am 30 and have my own daughter, I wouldn't take her anywhere else. Dr. David Claus is especially good, but I can recommend every doctor in the practice (there are 3). 260 Chicago Ave. Oak Park 60302. ###-###-####. Good luck!

many years ago, I had friends who absolutely loved Pedios of Oak Park, 260 Chicago Ave., ###-###-####.
My children never went there, only because Pedios didn't work with the insurance company we had back then.

I live in Oak Park, have a 3-year-old and 6-month-old and use Pedios. The front desk staff is not great, but the doctors are wonderful. There are 4 in the practice -- 3 women (Dr. Haukness, Dr. Turk and Dr. Wegner) and 1 man (Dr. Claus) -- I've seen them all and all are great. They are affiliated with Children's Memorial in Chicago, which is nice. The nurses are great and always available for phone calls and they doctors have phone hours in the mornings M-S to answer any questions if you don't really need to bring your child in. They are on Chicago Ave (just east of Ridgeland). Their number is ###-###-####.
