Pretetm Labor

Well i'm 28 wks and i went into the ER at 2am because i'd felt like i was having contractions four 2 1/2 hours. Come to find out I had stared dialating so i was given IV and meds to stop them. I was sent home at 6:60 am and got sleep. Now they've started again but I don't know if going back is something i should do or wait it out? Ladies advice please.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Well they gave me terbutaline the first time 3 shots actually. I was in labor and delivery but they sent me home after 4 hours. i called my OB and he told me to either drink more water and gatorade and come see him in the morning or to go to the ER.
My SO thinks it's best to wait and see him but I dunno what to do.

Update!!!!!!
So I ended up going back last night and I was 1 1/2cms dialated and starting to thin out. So, they gave me another shot of terbutaline (4th one) and and IV with nausea meds in it. Finally the contractions stopped. so they gave me the pill form of both the terbtaline and the nausea meds to take every 6 hours. Hopefully that keeps her in there for as long as she needs to be. Thanks ladies again for all the advice.

Don't take any chances, I was put on bedrest at 28 weeks for preterm labor and I was in and out of the labor and delivery unit for 7 weeks when I finally delivered at 35weeks. My son was in the NICU even at that point and it was by far the worst 7 days of my life. No joke. The bedrest was terrible but the NICU was worse. I promise you, even if it's a false alarm nobody will be upset with you for playing it safe. It's their job to keep that baby in you. Good luck and I really hope things go well for you.

You need to call your OB right now. Tell the doctor on call that you were just in to the ER and that the contractions have started back. They will have you to repoert to your Labor & Delivery unit right away. I hope they can give you a little terbutaline and stop those contractions. At this point if they have started again, it is not dehydration contractions, so please go back now. It makes me even more worried that they started back after waking and not after activity. Cook that baby a little longer girlfriend! Get your numbers reeady, because this sounds like it will for sure end in bedrest for the next 10 weeks, but that beats 'chair rest' in an NICU. Get off the computer and go now!

You absolutely do not wait it out!!!!! What are you waiting out? The baby to be born at 28 weeks!?

Call your doctor immediately and then get yourself back to the hospital. The doc will probably have you go straight to L & D. Why on earth did they send you home if you had started dilating!?

Trust me, as the mom of a 32 weeker, you do not want a preemie if you can absolutely prevent it.

You may need to go back to find out what is going on. 28 weeks is way to early to have a baby and if you wait it out at home and end up having the baby at home it could be bad. It is always better to be safe when it come to that kind of thing. So I say go back in.

why didn't you go to l&d the first time? I doubt they would have let you leave. You need to be monitered for several hours after they stop at least

They shouldn't have sent you home. Are you on brethine? This is very serious. Please get to the hospital and talk to your doctor about how to manage preterm labor when you go back home. You need good information. Should you be on complete bedrest? Have they talked about your heart rate, what you can and can't eat, how much water to drink, and laying on your left side?

Managing this and keeping that baby inside of you until the last possible minute is crucial. Get some help, Mom!
