Prescription Help for Painful Bloating and Gas?
Hi! I'm in my second trimester, and occasionally up all night with painful huge bloating and gas. The tums, rolaids and gas x are not helping. I forgot to mention it to my OB since she's in and out of our appointment so fast... Is there a prescription better than the otc stuff, and safe? I won't see the doc for another three weeks and don't want to wait! If you know of something, I'll call and ask the nurse to phone it in! Thanks!
PS. It's not associated with what I'm eating... I'm being careful and it actually doesn't happen when I think it might!

It may or may not help, but I ate papaya enzymes with every meal (almost) when I was pregnant. It seemed to help. I agree that it is best to avoid otc and prescription medication if you can.

I do not know of anything that you can get, but have you looked into what you are eating? While I was prego I could not go near anything italian because of the sause and how thick everything was. If you can pinpoint what you are eating that causes the gas and just avoid it then you can be free of the tums and gas :)

pepcid!!! That's what works for me! Also, I know you said it wasn't associated with eating, but sometimes it's how MUCH you eat, not just WHAT you eat... especially with the lesser amount of room you have in there now. :)
Oh, also, try laying down on your left side... it aids digestion and breathing and blood flow, I think.
Blessings!

When I was pregnant I would wake up at night in pain. My doc said to try Zantac 150. I took Zantac 75, and it worked wonders! Best of luck to you.

As someone that has always had tummy problems, and even more so while pregnant, most of the prescription stuff is not good for the baby (unfortunately). What I was doing that helped was to take fiber pills (otc) and beano (otc). It really did help alot. Make sure you drink a lot more water, too, because it actually lessens the bloating feeling. I feel your pain. Good luck

Bloating and gas ARE associated with what you eat AND with how well you digest it. I would NOT take any pharmaceutical product - otc or not - especially while pregnant. I am a certified herbal consultant and would recommend some herbs and digestive enzymes to relieve your symptoms. Feel free to contact me for specifics or visit my website at: www.shootingstarherbs.amazonherb.net and look for Digestazon and Digestazon Plus.

When I was pregnant with my second child I used to have to put anise seeds on everything I ate.
It helps prevent gas...
I had horrible pain from the gas and it did help.
