Preschool Rec for Stone Oak/281 Area

My daughter is 16 months and I am hoping to start her in a pre school program either this fall or fall of 2009. I work as a professor, so I need a school that will allow her to stay until 5:30/6:00 depending on the location. I am willing to drive a bit if the school is worth it. So far, my favorite is the country day school. I would love any recommendations

What can I do next?

The teachers at Country Day School are fabulous, along with their curriculum. However, the management and ownership has much to be desired - my experience with them is that the owner is not very kind at all and seems to be much more concerned about her vested business interest in the school than the children. I also know that there have been some unaddressed safety issues on the playground in the past - but you could check on those currently to be sure they are up to speed now (filler under equipment, kids access to water/pond, fire ant treatment, etc.)

I would also recommend the full-time preschool at Gracepoint Bible Church (it is on Huebner, between I-10 & Babcock). My doctor also sends her own children there & loves it. Their afternoon pick-up time is 6pm. And they also host a weekend parent-night-out program - less expensive than a babysitter & in a certified-daycare facility, so its safe!

Best of luck! I know God has just the right place for your little ones.

I can most highly recommend the preschool care at Cornerstone Church at 1604 and Stone Oak. I don't know all the hrs/details, but I know their staff is highly qualified amd motivated with all the right things possible for little ones.

We have been members at this wonderful church for 30 yrs and my husband is one of the elders there. mg

I don't recommend Primrose. My son went there four years ago and it was great, but it's really changed over the last couple years. My daughter, 19 months, is at Luv-N-Care right next to Rolling Oaks Catholic School off of Wilderness Oaks. It is just as nice as Primrose - big classrooms, three playgrounds, but more geared towards play. There is a curriculum and they do work on potty training, eating with a fork/spoon, drinking from a real cup... but they do a lot of playing and the girls who watch them are younger and more geared to having fun with them and loving on them.

If learning is what you are focused on, Children's Lighthouse is great, I've heard great things around The Goddard School also.

I am the director of Christian Heritage Preschool- We are located at 281 and Thousand Oaks. You can call and visit if you want or come by and tour. The office number is ###-###-####. We are in the middle of open registration and we start children at at 18mos.

My daughter attends Central Christian Church Day School and she just loves it, as do I. She was going to kids r kids and I was unhappy with their curriculum and care in general.
This is a christian based program, but they also have a set academic curriculum that they follow and there are also options to sign the children up for dance, gym class, and a computer class. The staff is friendly and very well trained.
They are located on Evens street (in stone oak) right next to Bush Middle School.
They open at 6:30am and I think close at either 6pm or 6:30pm.

Hello, I wanted to recommend the Children's Academy of Stone Oak. (Stone Oak take a right on Huebner) This is a brand new center that will be opening the beginning of March. I met with the owner last week and she is fantastic and I'm really excited about my daughter starting there. They are currently doing tours and enrolling. The owner is a mother of 3 children and she has made the center VERY appealing to kids. Every room is brightly colored, There are animal murals throughout the hallways even the tiles on the floors are bright and energizing to the kids. All classrooms are connected to the internet so you may check on your child throughout the day. Many other great services. They also have wonderful hours - 6:30AM to 7:00PM. I have looked at many centers and I feel really good about whats ahead for my daughter. Hope this helps and good luck with finding the place thats best for your family.
