Preschool Games for Halloween Party

The parents are in charge of planning all the holiday parties at my daughters preschool. The teacher has told us that we should try to plan about six games because the kids LOVE games (3 year olds). We'll only have a L. over an hour to fit in games, snack, story, and a craft. The craft, I think, will be fairly simple so we're not too worried about that. The problem is trying to figure out games for the kids. I've been trying to search on the internet and the games I find are just too involved or just seem to be for older kids. Does anyone have any ideas for fun preschool games that don't require a ton of materials and are appropriate for 3 year olds? Thanks for the help!

What can I do next?

Pumpkin bowling (soda bottles weighted with sand and a roundish pumpkin).

Get eyeball pingpong balls and have kids go from one place to another balancing them on a plastic spoon.

Fill Halloween socks with beans and out down some buckets and have a bean bag toss.

Tie an inflated balloon (halloween colors) to an ankle of each child with a 2 foot string and have each child try to step on and pop everyone else's balloons without having theirs stepped on.

That's all I have. Good luck!

Simon Says. Winners can get Halloween themed goodies. I agree with MandA M about Oriental Trading Co

My neighbor and I throw an annual Halloween party for kids that are 3-5.
Oriental Trading Company is a catalog I get (for some reason), and we got TONS of ideas from that.

We're going a velcro witch with sticky balls that they can throw at her (like pin the tail on the donkey), mini pumking decorating with stickers and adhesive stuff (eyeballs, etc...) - no markers!, a version of the bucket game.

TONS of cute ideas and they're cheap!

i was just looking for the same thing! lol i found a cute one that you get one of those plastic pumpkins, put either different cut out shapes (from construction paper maybe) or crayons and you pass around the pumpkin like hot potato with music and when it stops, the kid with the pumplin has to pull out s shape (or crayon) and say the shape/color name and put it in the middle of the circle. helps then with colors and/or shapes!

Pin the nose on the witch (or some other similar adaptation)
musical chairs with Halloween music
Hang a bunch of donuts on a string and see who can eat it the fastest without using their hands (messy and not healthy, I know, but SO fun)
Bean bag toss - make a giant cardboard jack o lantern with holes for the eyes, nose and mouth to toss the beanbags into

Basically, take any regular party game, and give it a halloween theme

my daughter loves this at her school, they play 3 year old Pictionary. ITS hilarious. everyone gets a turn at the easle, they have to think of a object and to the best of there ability they draw it. BELIEVE me the pictures are generally hilarious. Then the other kids have to guess what it is with one turn each. Example: Molly draws a circle with a squiggle mark... kids say whale, beach, ocean, dog, pencil... and now Molly has to say what it is... Molly says its my house with a staircase to the basement. It gets everyone laughing and usually after its done there is no more time to play others.

Wow, six games in that amount of time seems insane to me... but here are the ideas that I had...
- Pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern
- Marshmallow eating contest (give kids 30 seconds to see how many minis they can down)
- Variation of duck, duck, goose (could do ghost, ghost, monster or some other cute Halloween version)
Have fun~

Take regular games and turn them Halloween-ish. Like Halloween Musical Chairs. Turn on some spooky music and then just play like normal. You could make monster stew. Take chocolate pudding and let the kids add eyeballs (candy eye balls), etc.
They could also make spiders out of oreos. Should come up easily on a google search.

Here are a few:

Have a dress/undress relay with hats and gloves. The kids are put into 2 teams with half of kids at either end of room. Team members put on hat and gloves and WALK to the other end of room, exchanges all pieces with child there, who relays back, continues till all on one team have done it and crossed finish line (use funny halloween hands and assorted costume hats to make it fun)

Give each child a plate of popcorn and a plastic surgical glove. Separate them into teams and when you say go, all members of the team fill their gloves (including the fingers) with popcorn. First team done wins. Give all the kids those spider rings to put on it and a twist tie for a great take-home treat.

Using cotton balls and straws, have the kids (again teams) race against each other, blowing a cotton ball down a row through the straw until it crosses a finish line, then runs back and next child goes. You can use a long line of desks or do it on the floor if it is clean (if not, lay down some plastic table cloths because they will be crawling) First team to have all kids blow cotton ball across the finish line wins.

Break kids into teams and give each team a balloon. Objective is to bounce it in the air and keep it there longer than the other teams by bouncing it from member to member but if they can't do that (age) just have them all try together to keep it up there. You can play this one a lot of times before they get tired of it. Last team whose balloon hasn't touched the floor wins...(we used orange balloons and drew black lines and jack-o-lantern faces on them to make it halloweenish..) Wouldn't keep them around after the game though...choking hazard for these kiddos!

Green goo...Make a bunch of green jello. Place 2 small trinkets for each child into the mix and they put their hands in and the toys they pull out are theirs... Messy but lots of fun!!!

Have a great halloween party and let me know how the kids like these games if you use any of them...

Happy Halloween!!!
