Hi Mamma's!
I am thinking about putting my 4 year old (going to be 5 in September) in Preschool, and was wondering if anyone knew of a good preschool around the Springfield Il area.

I was going to put her in our church preschool, but they have no openings. I have been dragging my feet on this....and I realize it may be too late to get her into a good place. Which is fine with me :) But she really wants to go. (All her friends are going to preschool..and big sissy is going to school) so I think she feels left out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Thanks!
J.

Hello. I live in Springfield. I think that the best preschool by far is the Early Learning Center that is run by the School District. The kids go for 2 1/2 hours. There are morning and afternoon classes. You can pay tuition if your child isn't eligible based on development or need. The teachers are first class and there are a wide range of children. My 4 year old went there last year and will go again this year. School starts 9/10. She also rides the bus sometimes which she loves. I have heard that St Johns Lutheran is pretty good. I am not sure if they are full. Hope this helps.

Have you checked into the Capital Area Career Center preschool? My daughter went there last year and loved it. It's inexpensive and they go three days a week for a couple of hours each day.

I have heard wonderful things about several preschools in Springfield. St. John's Preschool located on Washington Street and Cherry Hills located at Woodside and Chatham Road are excellent according to friends. My daughter attends the Early Learning Center through the Springfield School District and we have nothing but great things to say about the program. Good luck in your search.

My friend sent her son to the preschool at Butler Elementary last year when he was four. She didn't have any complaints. I babysat him a couple of times a week, before and after school. He never complained either (except for the occasional mean kid), had a good time. And I can tell you his skills with the alphabet, numbers, and drawing greatly improved that year.

Hope this helps!
