Hi ladies! I really want to take prenatal yoga but need a place that also has childcare provided while mommies take the class. My daughter is 16 months so she is too young for any drop in care places...any suggestions would help!

Thinking around Bellevue, Kirkland or surrounding areas....seattle would work too if none around here!!

Thanks!!!

I go to 24-hour Fitness in Bellevue (next to Safeway). They have yoga classes (not prenatal though) & provide childcare for $3.50 for 2 hours. If you can't find anything, check them out.

Check some of the gyms around for prenatal yoga - I think most have a drop-in rate so you won't have to join. I know Columbia Athletic in Juanita has childcare as well as Kiva in Kenmore/Bothell area (just north of Juanita). You can always do a Hatha yoga class and let the instructor know you're pregnant. Pro Club in Bellevue offers childcare, but I think that club is crazy expensive. Good luck!

I love Seattle Holistic Center in Wallingford. You would not be able to attend the prenatal yoga with your little one but they have a family yoga class on Mondays with Collette. She is the owner of the place & extremely knowledgeable. She teaches the prenatal classes too & would be able to tell you how to modify your poses for that.

Hi G., I actually teach Prenatal Yoga on Mercer Island as well as 8 Limbs YOga. My son is 18 months. I can suggest the following. The class I teach on Mercer Island is Thursdays 6pm at MI Community Center on the northend. You are welcome to 'share' childcare with my nanny on those days. However, I live on the southend of Mercer Island so it would be a bit of travel that direction. I had thought to have childcare available for Prenatal classes but there wasn't the space and most of the 2nd time moms had someone available in the evening. Eastside - there is prenatal yoga at Yoga Centers in Bellevue I believe. (no childcare) Maybe in Issaquah at Village Green Yoga?

There is also Mom/Baby classes for newborns to walking at 8 LImbs Capital Hill. 16 month old wouldn't do well there but there is Yoga on Tues/Thursdays at 10am with childcare for $5. I go to this quite often. Thursdays is taught by Anne Phyfe (my mentor and owner of the studio) she is very good at giving you prenatal options during class. Any of the prenatal classes (Sat afternoons, Monday evenings, Sunday afternoons) are great if you can find a neighbor or someone to watch your 16 mo old. I used to do an exchange with a friend of mine - she watched my son one class, I watched hers the next class.
There are also classes at Lotus Yoga. Some are toddler classes as well as prenatal (but again no childcare). See YogaBlaze.com for listing of local yoga studios in your area.
Just be sure to go to a Yoga class that is Prenatal. Or at least go to a couple of them and ask the instructor how you should be modifying in regular classes. It is super important that your instructor know you are prego and also know what options are best for pregnant women. Make sure they are trained in this area not just telling you what you should based on some article they read.
I cannot highly recommend Prenatal classes enough. I loved them when I was pregnant and now teach them. I practically teach for free at MI Commmunity Center/Parks & Recreation simply because I believe in the power of them during our pregnancy both physically and mentally/emotionally. Great support system of moms. Good luck finding something that works for you.
