Would you know of any prenatal yoga classes in Silicon Valley? Sunnyvale or beyond?

A friend who recently delivered told me of all things you do when you're pregnant, prenatal yoga is a must! For some reason I feel I am not finding all of my options in one place, and I consider myself pretty tech savvy.

I am located in Sunnyvale but am willing to travel out 15 miles in any direction. Thank you for your recommendations!

So What Happened?

I want to thank everyone for their recommendations. This was my first time posting on MamaSource and from this experience have learned it is the place to find the best tailored and helpful advice! Thank you moms. I am excited to try a couple different prenatal yoga classes as a result.

I can't say I know the name of the yoga studio, but when I shop at "Bump Maternity" in Los Gatos, I have seen some pamphlets on the counter advertising a prenatal yoga class. Give a call over to Bump Maternity and ask her for more details!

Hey A.,
There seems to be a few Prenatal yoga places around and some on this list serve too.
I teach prenatal yoga at Blossom Birth in Palo Alto (off Oregon Exp 101 or Page Mill 280) it's an awesome resource center, which I've been going to as a professional and as a mom ; )
Also, Harmony Birth Resources in Campbell is really great, if you prefer a more "south" local...

Yoga Source in Palo Alto offers a fantastic pre/post-natal yoga on Monday afternoon from 3:15-4:30pm. Mara, the teacher, is an experienced doula and a wonderful yoga teacher. This class is truly a treat.

Hi A.!

I teach prenatal yoga right in Mountain View and Palo Alto! My Mountain View class is on Thursdays from 11:15- 12:45 at Yoga Is Youthfulness on Castro (although I am not teaching today due to a nasty cold and no class next week for the holidays). I also teach on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 at Blossom Birth Services in Palo Alto on California Street. Both are within 15 minutes of Sunnyvale, depending on where exactly you live. My website is www.mindfulmama.net. If neither of these times works for you, let me know and I can help you find a class that does- I know the majority of teachers in the area. HTH!

Love, J.

You can also check out DayOne in Palo Alto. It's a really useful resource after your baby arrives as well, especially if your travels take you along the peninsula.

Hi,

Just posted another response about yoga, but happy to recommend it here as well! I took prenatal yoga from Harmony Birth in Campbell (http://www.harmonybirth.com/yoga/wholebirth.html) and it was wonderful. Make sure to take the Whole Birth class (as opposed to a drop-in) to get the discussion component as well (I know I learned more there than at child-birth classes). Jennifer and Journey are both fantastic teachers!

Hi A.,

I know that Kaiser Permanente run pre-natal yoga classes in a few different locations in Silicon Valley. You don't have to be a Kaiser member to attend (although I think you pay a little more). I haven't been to one so don't know what they are like. You can find the details on the Kaiser website. I think the link is Health and Lifestyle classes or something like that. Have a wonderful pregnancy, a great birth, and a glorious lifetime with your little one.

Kind regards,
N. xx

Harmony Birth Services in Campbell has all sorts of things to offer and I highly recommend them. They offer both pre and post natal yoga, and a number of other services. They have a good site at harmonybirth.com I hope this helps.

I took prenatal yoga at Willow Glen Yoga on Lincoln Ave. The class meets on Monday nights and the first half hour is devoted to introducing each mom and talking about a birth related topic. The yoga instructor Nanci is great and very knowledgeable.
