Prenatal Yoga in Portland

I'd love a referral to an inexpensive (or reasonable) studio in Portland, Oregon. Pre/postnatal yoga, or prenatal pilates would be great - thank you! I'm just about 8 weeks along, and would also love to meet other expecting moms in the area.

Cheers,
K.

What can I do next?

The Movement Center in NE Portland is great.

I went to Sacred Onion. Vittoria is a great instructor and the prenatal class is also a time that we spent talking and bonding and getting help and advice from other moms-to-be.
She was operating out of a studio at her home in Southwest Portland (Garden Home/Multnomah Village), but they either have or will be opening a new studio.

I would HIGHLY recommend Shawna's class at the Yoga Shala in SE Portland. They have a "check in" before every class and it really heps you focus on your pregnancy and baby for that 1 1/2 hours. She also invites new Mom's that were in class to come in and share their birth stories to the class. After the babies were born some of us started a Mom's group fro the women we met there. Unfortunately, I don't know how "reasonable" you would find it, but they do have a coupon in the Chinook Book. Good luck and have fun.

I tried many different prenatal yogas in Portland, and most of them are just watered down hatha: not helpful for pregnancy or preparing for birth and new baby!
The best ones I found to help for those were Moving Through, in SE, and the Kundalini prenatal at Zenana. Both were very powerful for relieving stress and energizing me during pregnancy, and for getting strong for birth. Both were taught by doulas, also making a big difference. I really wouldn't waste money on the ones that are just basically stretching. They even made me feel more sleepy. These other ones were really great, and I couldn't make it through the week without at least 2 classes, as my pregnancy went on.

I would highly recommend checking out www.motherwiseyoga.com. I took classes from Camille throughout my entire pregnancy. The classes are at Zenana Spa on SE Clinton. I absolutely loved her approach, she was very laid back. I met alot of great moms and I think the yoga itself helped me feel so empowered during my pregnancy.

I second Ashley's request. I went to zenana-spa.com all throughout my pregnancy for prenatal massages, they really cater to women pre and post natal. The prenatal class with Camille was awesome and I have gone to her post natal yoga with baby class as well. Enjoy!
