Pregnant or Something Else? - Forney,TX

Okay... I am the one that has been asking all the ectopic pregnancy questions. Background: I had an emergency ectopic pregnancy surgery on May 12th to remove my two month fetus and most of my left fallopian tube because I was bleeding internally. externally, and my tube was about to rupture. I did not have a DNC so I began heavily bleeding on May 18th but it was the same 5 day bleeding I always have with my periods. On June 1st I was urinating a lot, light cramping, was fairly nauseated throughout the day, having headaches, really tired, and I have been so constipated for the last two days I thought I might die trying to get it out. This evening I have been nauseated, all day I have been extremely tired (granted, my in-laws just left this morning from an extended Memorial Day weekend), I've had some cramping but more lower back cramping... it's not possible for me to have already gotten pregnant again, could it? My husband and I want another baby really soon but I would think after a surgery to remove a fetus it would take a bit longer for me to get pregnant... or would I possibly ovulate immediately? My husband and I have been having sex pretty much every night since I stopped bleeding and we actually had sex the night I began bleeding. We had sex... then I started my 5 day bleeding immediately following sex. What could all of this be? Just something else? Today was exactly 3 weeks since the surgery and I asked my doctor about it but she said it just sounded like ovulation. I had originally thought that but I don't think ovulation would cause extreme constipation, etc. Maybe? Maybe it is something else?

What can I do next?

I would think since you just had your surgery less than a month ago that you still might have pregnancy hormones still in your body. I had 2 miscarriages a few years back and a week or 2 after it was still registering pregnant hormones. If you are not feeling better soon I would call the doctor back.

Honey, it's most likely some lingering pregnancy hormones. I went through an ectopic pregnancy in 2006 and it took a couple of months for me to feel normal again. I went through a huge depression b/c I still felt pregnant for a long time after our loss. Granted, everyone is different and you very well may be pregnant, but if you aren't, please don't think that what you are feeling is abnomal. If you want to get pregnant right away, I wish you the very best! I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope that you and your husband heal well and have a happy healthy pregnancy next! *hugs!*

I also suggest that your symptoms are the result of hormones. A period can cause constipation. Because of your ectopic pregnancy and surgery your body is bound to behave in ways different to what you think of as normal.

My daughter had an ectopic pregnancy that was ended with radiation. Her back ached for weeks afterwards as well as having continued cramping.

You didn't ask but I would be concerned about having sex so often so soon after surgery. You have tissues that need time to heal. You may have stitches that can be torn. You probably have been adding more irritation to tissue that has already had massive damage. Did you tell your doctor about having sex? Internal stress/damage could also be causing some of your symptoms.

I looked at your previous posts and wonder if you're taking good enough care of yourself because of your wish to have a baby soon? Your body needs to time to heal.

Since you had surgery 3 weeks ago didn't you have a follow up appointment with the doctor to make sure you are healing right and on schedule/without complications? I think it is required. If you haven't, do it to make sure everything is fine and you can ask the doctor all your concerns at that time.

I haven't been through this, but I had so many pregnancy symptoms over the past week and a half that I was completely convinced I was pregnant, then just started my period a few days earlier than expected. Your body probably does have the hormones as Elizabeth mentioned, but you also might not be ovulating regularly yet. Semen can live in the body for several days, I think up to five, so if your bleeding and ovulation is off, you could be pregnant as well. If you still have symptoms after another week or two you might want to go to your doctor because even a home test could give you a false positive if you still have pregnancy hormones in your body, but if you are pregnant you want to know that, too. I never had constipation with any pregnancy, but know some women do. I hope you know something soon.
