Pregnant or Not
Hi, my husband and i have been trying to have another baby. We began trying January 1st and i had stopped my BC. I have not got my period since dec 17th... anyway, i took a test (First Response) and that little pink [pregnant] line was there... but SO light. But kinda visable. I then took a Clearblue EASY and it said NOT pregnant... So i was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what you think? My husband are so anxious to test again this weekend. Please let mem know if anyone has had this happen??
I have a doc appt.. but they cannot get me into march 4th!! Can you believe it Crazy... Keeping my fingers crossed..
So What Happened?™
Well... My husband couldn't wait until sunday so he woke me up this morning to take the digital one (only one we had left). So with my morning-pee lol... I got the results.. PREGNANT! SO thank you to all who gave me advice and most if not ALL of you were right... I was pregnant. We couldnt be happier to bring another child into our family and give our Fiona a little brother or sister. So thank you for all your help and advice.

Hello! Clearblue Easy may not be as sensitive as the First Response test. Taking another First Response test in a couple of days may show a darker line. Even a very light line is considered positive. Best of luck!

I've always heard you can have a false-negative response, but never a false-positive result. So, go ahead and try again. With my second pregnancy, I think I did like 3 tests before I really believe I was pregnant. Good luck!

It may be that you are pregnant, but it is early. This happened to me with my 4th child. I waited a couple of days, and tested again, and then the red line was undeniable!

Hi, I didn't read all your responses, just thought I'd email you with my experience. I tried 2 years for my third (who is 6 months now). When I took the first test, it was very faint, the second, a little more darker. I just called my OB and asked to have a blood test, they had no problem sending me to the lab. Good luck and hopefully CONGRATS!!!

Hey C., It does sound like you my have a little bean forming in your belly. I had the same situation where I took the test and the line was so light that I let it sit all day. I kept rechecking it over and over. So unsure but than I took another one a few days later and it was very pink. I wish you all the best.

Different brands of pregnancy tests have different sensitivities. It sounds like you may be pregnant and the First Response test can detect smaller amounts of HCG than the Clearblue Easy. To be sure, wait a couple days and try again.
FWIW, the pregnancy tests at Dollar Tree and Dollar General are among the most sensitive ones out there!

First Response is the earliest pregnancy test that I know of. With my 2nd child I saw a faint line but wasn't sure. I took another one 2-3 days later and it was definietly positive. Take another one on Sunday, First Response, and see if it is darker. If you see anything at all, I would say CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Being off Birth control for 1 month is not a lot. I was told one year, depending on the method... It is nice that you are enjoying your first child. Why not continue to and wait a little longer before you expand me the family? When there are two little ones who need you at the same time, it gets much more stressful. Something to think about.

During my 2 years of TTC I got to know many HPT's well and did a lot of researching about it. First Response usually gives the earilest positive. The Clearblue EASY uses the blue dye, which doesn't work as well. Consumer Reports also rated First Response as the best pregnancy test. There is a website dedicated to HPT's and OPK's that I used to frequent a lot. It is www.peeonastick.com. It has wonderful info and pictures of what postive tests look like at different days past ovulation. Good luck.

Chrystal,
In my experience, Fiona is about to have a little sibling!! My line was so faint I carried the tester around with me all day and checked it under every light imaginable. Several days later is was darker and a month later, the doctor cofirmed it! Good luck!

If there is a family planning clinic or women's clinic in your area, they should be able to do one much quicker, and usually it's free or cheap. Good luck!

I swear, this JUST happened to me today. I took an E.P.T. it had a faint blue line, so, since we've been trying since October, I excitedly called my OB/GYN and made an appointment. They sent me for bloodwork, and guess what, negative. I'm SO disappointed. You should call your OB and get an order for bloodwork, that's the most accurate.

Yes, this happened to me! My dr. told me if there is any line at all, even light, then you are pregnant! I would test first thing in the morning using First Response. I'm sure the line will be darker next time. Good Luck!!!

We just had our second baby, but I remember when I took the pregnancy tests with her, I had just gone off my BC the end of April and by May 21 I tested positive (it barely showed the line) I checked two more times once it came up negative and then positive. But I was pregnant. So my best guess is you are positive. Good Luck! and Congrats!

It is of my knowlegde that the tests with the lines are an earlier predictor than the digital tests. The digital tests require more HCG to trip it into responding "Pregnant" First Response seems to be one of the tests that detects the least amount of HCG. A faint line is a line and sounds positive to me. Test in another day or two, your levels should double and darken the line. As long as the test did not sit long past the read time and the line was there I would say your pregnant!

Hi, I used First Response and the line was very faint. A line is a line. I would say you are pregnant but check again this weekend. Congrats!

Wait another week it just might be too early. Or call your doctor and see if they can run a blood test if you have to know now. Good Luck!!

Hi C.
with my second child i took a preg test and it came up negative only to take one the next week and it was positive. like me, you may ovulate later on in your cycle- meaning that you would be a week or so less pregnant than what you think, give it time and take another test. good luck. C.

I always used First response, it gave results sooner. The first time it was sooo faint that I wasn't sure. I retook it 3 days later and it was a little darker, the point is, hcg is there. I would recheck this weekend and call your doctor for bloodwork, but chances are that you are pregnant.

That normally happens to me as well. The first test is barely noticeable then I retest 2 days later then it becomes more clear. If for some reason is not and one still shows + and the other - the best bet is to go to your OB for further testing! =)

go to the doctor to have a test. sometimes a blood test is more accurate. i have a friend who had a light pink line went to the doctor and found out she was pregnant. do not be anxious and relax it will happen before you know it.

I only say this becasue it happened to me less than a year ago when i was trying. Thoses pregnancy tests are not the greatest at detecting early. even the first reponses. it did the same thing to me and I WAS pregnant. Try again this weekend, I know it is an exciting process but well worth the wait for the surprise. The sooner you find out the longer the pregancy seems to be. If by chance it didn't happen this time, I highly recommend the ovulation detector packs. It is the best way to find out the days you are ovulating and when you are your most fertile. Good Luck!

I've always heard that there are never false positives, only false negatives. What's the harm in testing again? So you're out $8...big deal. The doctor might be your best option, however. This way they could give you a blood test to determine your HcG levels.

Hi C.-
Why not call your doc again and ask if you can just get the blood test right away and then just have your regular doc apt on march 4th? A lot of docs will just send you a prescription to go to a local lab (like Quest, etc.) to get your blood test done.

Take the test first thing in the morning. Your 'liquids' are more concentrated then - and use the digital kind. Good luck - let us know!
