Pregnant Mama Needs Great OB/GYN

I am pregnant and have a five year old daughter. Last time I gave birth my labor and vaginal delivery was "normal" for a young mother. However, this time I do have some added concerns. In the last two years I have found that I have two extremely herniated discs in my lower back. They are protruding so far into my spinal canal that they are pinching some nerves and my entire right leg is permanently numb because of this. With this being said, I believe the best delivery for me this time around would be to have a c-section with general anesthesia. This is because pushing can actually rupture my already herniated discs and because an epidural can do much more damage then good. However, I am not sure where to look for an OB/GYN that would be willing and qualified to do this. Does anyone have experience or know of a great OB/GYN in the Henderson area? Thank you!

I had the same problem as the other poster! (um, Lisa???) I had to switch out doctors very late in the pregnancy and I needed to get seen! she was the only doctor in the whole valley that would see me at all, as I was having ins issues!

Anyway, Dr. Long on Eastern, is amazing. the nurses are ok, not great, but not mean either. I loved that she was there for me, she scheduled my C-Section, she got there and she even fixed the mess some previous doc's had left inside (this was my 3rd c-section).

Seriously, I have NEVER felt as good after a c-section as I did with her. she did amazing. a c-section is a hard recovery, but a great doc that knows what she is doing, made it all better for me.

Put it to you this way, with my 1st I was still in recovery 3 MONTHS after... with my second I could barely move after 3 weeks, and with the one that Dr. Long delivered!? I was throwing my dd a birthday party after only 5 days! it was like day and night.

seriously, you should see if you like her. I'll did through my records to get her number if you want it just email me!

Hi J. I live in Henderson as well, and I have an amzing ob/gyn. I can also give you the name of another one that I heard is great. I completely understand your concern, I have a very large herninated disc in my back as well. My Dr. knows his stuff and has an amazing bedside manner. He delieved my son almost 5 years ago, and I never had met him prior to 5 days before my delievry! I still see only him, and he always asks if I have any questions or concerns, my son was born 2 months early here in Nevada, at St. Rose, Siena instead of in CA where he was suppose to come out!! My Dr.'s name is a bit of a mouth full but he is wonderful, his name is Arthur Herpolshimer. He is half German, half Japanese. I can't recommend him enough. The other person I have heard a lot about is Dr. Elisabeth Moore. Her ex-husband is my son's pediatriation. Good luck:)

J.,

I see Dr Sauter and he is off of Eastern and Wigwam. He is the best. He has an excellent bedside manner and doesn't mind spending time with you and answering questions. I have seen a number of OB's in this town, including women, and he is by far the best ever! He is very laid back and even during my delivery was super relaxed and this made it much easier! His number is ###-###-####. He was one of the only Dr's that would take me as a new patient at 7 months along when I had to switch Dr's for reasons because of my insurance. I must have called 15 Dr's in the Henderson area and he was the only one that would take me. Good luck1

Anytime I see a request for an OBGYN in the Henderson area, I always recommend Dr. Sauter. I ended up with vaginal births with both of my kids, but the second one I ended up getting induced. I was really against the induction and I called up Dr. Sauter's office the night before it was scheduled. He called me back within an hour and talked to me on the phone for 15 - 20 minutes until I was at peace with my decision. He went over all the pros and cons with me and told me it was my choice to make and that he would wait another week if that is what I wanted. He is a kind, patient doctor that really allows women to make their own decisions as long as baby and mom will be safe. If anyone will let you have a birth your way, it would be him.

Michelle Lewis is great! Her number is ###-###-####. Closest cross-streets are Wigwam and Pecos. She delivered my son by emergency C-section 3 1/2 years ago. She is very supportive and encouraging. Good Luck!

J.-

I too had to switch Dr's late in my high risk pregnancy. I switched to Dr Sauter also. I have never been happier. He and his staff are compassionate and very caring. I have never felt I was just a number there. He truly takes time with you at any stage of the game. He delivered my last baby by c-section and did a fantastic job!!! Even after the baby left the room with my husband (customary for c-section baby) I started to cry and he kept reassuring me every step of the way. Even came back to tell me that how much she weighed because they forgot to tell me before they took her. He goes above and beyond when he could be delegating to nurses and other staff. He also is the head of the OB/GYN dept at St Rose Hospital (at least he was when I had my section). I could go on and on about him...I think he is great! The only thing I can see that some people might say is a downfall is that he is male. I really have never thought twice about him being male...I always used to see a female just because but I haven't felt the need to with Dr Sauter. But if you are insistent about seeing a female he has a partner....Dr Stephenson, they are in the same office. I hope my rambling helps!!!
