Pregnant but Low hCG Levels???

Home pregnancy test and blood test show that I'm pregnant but have very low levels of the pregnancy hormone (hCG). For the past 2 weeks I've gone in for blood test and my hCG levels have gone from 59 up to 1091, but the dr. is saying this is still low and they really can't do sonogram until my levels hit about 6,000 b/c they wouldn't be able to see anything. So I go back next week for a 3rd blood test and we'll go from there. I've just never been through this and am not sure what to think of it all. Anyone else had this happen? Did you end up carrying the baby full term or did it result in a miscarriage? Thanks for any advice.

What can I do next?

hi H. i went thru this with my last child and i carried her full term. Sometimes as the baby is developing as a zygot the levels are just low. I had to wait until my levels got higher cause they couldnt see anything. the good news is that your levels are going up eat healthy dont stress and rest.

What was the timing in betweent the two results? If they were a full 2 weeks apart then yes that is still low. When that happened to me I miscarried soon after the results were around 1000. When I got pregnant after that my results started out around 200 then went over 1000 in approx 3 days and I had a healthy pregnancy.
I would think they could do a sono before 6000....I had one done when I was miscarrying and they were able to determine there was no fetus in there.
Good luck and let us know the outcome!

H.,

There is a possibility of not carrying the baby, but not sure about the timing between your tests is hard to tell. However, if your doc feels your levels are low, why did he/she not give you some meds???

I was told by my Reproductive Endocrinologist that the main thing to look for is that the hCG level doubles every 24 hours or so. When I went in for my second blood test, my numbers hadn't doubled. However, I went on to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy and baby.

How many days apart were the first two blood tests? How far along are you?
