Pregnant and Period?

So, I have been getting my period, but this last one has been lighter. I have been taking progesterone monthly because this helped me get pregnant before (doctor prescribed).
The last couple days, it feels like I have a baby kicking. Could I be pregnant? Or is this just gas?
Also, should note here that my breasts have been so sore for the last 3 months that every time my 2 year old brushed them, I would scream in pain (subsiding a little nowt he last couple weeks). When a girl I work with who smokes is in the vicinity, I can barely stand to stay at my desk because I can smell her 5 feet away, but never noticed it before - just the last month. I generally don't like the smell of popcorn but ended up having to pull over to throwi up in when my boys were eating some in the car. I hate the smell of lettuce (I know, I can't help it) and could smell a buffet in the lunch room that had lettuce even though I was 20 feet away. I have nausea, mostly when I drive but other times, too. I have gained 20 pounds since June and can't seem to shake them - I was overweight to begin with but this is unusual for me. My lower back has hurt for the last 2 months whenever I sit in certain chairs or in my car. I am craving chicken and rice as I did when pregnant with my first boy. I have started to feel like I have carpal tunnel syndrome - also something I had for the last half of my pregnancy with son number one. My upper tummy feels a little firm (above waistband). I have had to put 2 pairs of pants in the back of the closet because they just won't button. With all this, I had hope, but lost it when I got my period. But the "movement" has given me hope again. What do you think?

What can I do next?

There are better and healthier ways to get pregnant that to chug in hormones. The symptoms you are describing will be dismissed by allopathic MD, but are the wealth of remedy indication for a homeopath. Pregnant or not, look into alternative health care : )
Good Luck

Why are you asking us instead of taking a pregnancy test and calling your dr.? Do those two things. WE can't diagnose you! I hope you are healthy!

Well, you don't get your period when you are pregnant. A period is when the uterus sheds the lining because there was no implantation of a fertilized egg and therefore the rich lining is not needed by the body. Sorry-just bugs me when people say they had their period while they were pregnant. Nope, you didn't. It's a pet peeve kind of morning. lol

*But* you can have bleeding while pregnant for a variety of reasons. Most of the time it falls within normal limits.

You are taking a hormone. That can affect your body in a lot of ways. I have to agree with Tina F. Take a pregnancy test and/or call your doc. There are lots of times that I'll have pms symptoms that make me swear I'm pregnant. Our bodies do weird things sometimes.

Only your doc and a pregnancy test will give you the answers.

You wrote that your sister in law said said a urine test won't work if you're bleeding. This is simply not true. If you are pregnant then the urine test will pick up the HCG in your system - bleeding or not. Also, you would need to be around 3 or 4 months pregnant in order to feel the baby kicking. If it's early there's absolutely no way you would feel anything. The baby is the size of a peanut or smaller at that point. Do yourself a favor and pick up a test from the drugstore. It'll let you know if you're pregnant or not - I promise. Good luck!

I didn't read the other responses, but from my own experienc you can have what look like periods. 2 out of my 4 pregnancy's I had this happen. One time it was because I had Placenta Previa. The other was because how close the last two births were. You havn't said anything about the going to the Dr's. You need to go ASAP. It can make all the difference in a healthy baby or a sad outcome. My child with the Placenta Previa almost didn't make it. Please go see your Dr. Good luck and best wishes.

When trying for my daughter, I experienced what looked like a very light, redder-than-usual period after sex. It about broke my heart! (We were really hoping!) Turns out it was implantation bleeding and my pregnancy was confirmed a week and a half later. Good luck.

well it sounds like pregnancy symtoms why not go and buy a pregnancy test. I had a friend that had 4 periods very heavy and she was pregnant.. she didn't know she was pregnant so she didn't think to go to the doctor to check out the bleeding. Once she went to the ultrasound she figured out that she had 4 periods during early pregnancy.. so you never know.. take a test and find out..
