Pregnant & Having Pains

I am 9 weeks pregnant today. My stomach has been hurting since last night....almost feels like contractions; it tightens up and just aches. I'm not sure if it is just "braxton hicks" or if it is something I need to be more concerned about. Please give me any suggestions you have! :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ok so I called my doctor and she asked if I was cramping or spotting, which I wasn't. So she said just try and relax and stay hydrated. If I start to cramp or bleed to go to the ER ASAP. Thank you all for your help and your concern!! It's my second pregnany, but it's been 6 years since my last so I don't remember alot about it!!

Braxton Hicks don't happen until towards the very end of pregnancy. Sometimes throughout pregnancy you might feel pulls and strethces or pain in groin area. It could mean that you are overexerting yourself and just need to rest and drink more H2o. If that is the case, then the aches should disappear. What you really need to watch for is spotting. I suggest calling your Dr. or Midwife.

Best wishes.

S. you wouldn't be getting Braxton Hicks at only 9 weeks pregnant. I suggest, as a nurse, that you go to or get in touch with your OB/GYN immediately.
All the best.

May be your round ligament stretching, but if you are concerned especially if you start bleeding, call you OB for advice. If it is your round ligament this is normal most likely. Your uterus is growing.

HI, S. -
Go to your doctor right away. It's probably nothing, but wouldn't it be better to know?
You'll sleep better!!

Some minor, menstrual-like cramping and pain is very normal this early in your pregnancy. If it becomes severe, or if you begin spotting blood, you'll need to contact your OB who will most likely recommend that you come in immediately for an exam. If you start bleeding heavily and your doctor is unavailable, go to the ER right away.

One thing that can definitely be ruled out is braxton hicks since you won't be feeling those until 28 weeks at least.

Just take it easy, drink lots of water, and contact your doctor with any further concerns. I'm sure you'll be fine, Sweetie.

I agree... contact your OB - besides... that's what they get paid the "big bucks" for! I don't recall feeling the BH that early in any of my pregnancies, so call your doctor.

S., please call your doctor as soon as you can. Pregancy is fragile until after the first 12 weeks. Anytime you feel anything out of the ordinary you should be in contact with your doctor or nurse practicioner. It's better to be safe and error on the side of caution.

Go with your gut feeling. I my 3rd pregnancy I felt BH (or some kind of contraction-type pain) from 8 weeks on (not fun!), but that was unusual even for me. If you feel that there is something wrong, call your dr right away. If you don't, I would just mention it to your dr at your next appointment. I sincerely belive the "mother's intuition" is real and we should listen to what our heart and bodies are telling us. Good luck

Call your doctor, tell him your concerns. It's too early to be having Braton Hicks. Could be an upset tummy or morning sickness?

Contrary to what a lot of these responses say, you CAN have BH contractions that early... I had them that early and from there on out with both of my babies. However, they're not usually painful (though they can be - mine often were), esp. that early. I would definitely check in with your midwife or OB pronto. If you're nervous, in the meantime you can try lots of rest and drinking lots of water (that will often calm BH contractions down).

Blessings!

When i was about 9 weeks i experienced pain too!
I was really worried that I was having a miscarriage but it turns out it was just my body adjusting and stretching, if this is your first child that could definitly be it!
You should call your doctor and get a check up just to be on the safeside! But you should be just fine!

Good Luck and Congrats! =]

Contact your OB doctor right away! If you are concerned, the best thing to do is to let your doctor know and he/she can help you figure out what it is exactly. I hope you are just having slight "braxon hicks", however it is always best to make sure. Take care!
