Pregnancy Test - Pen Argyl,PA

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on Saturday and Saturday night. I ended my period on Thursday. He claims all will be ok. I read a lot of different articles as to when people have gotten pregnant. How soon can I take a pregnancy test to see if I am pregnant? Do I have to wait until I miss my period? I have always been irregular but after not having my period for years because of being on the Depo shot, I am finally regular. Well, I have been for the past 3 months anyway.

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance and have a blessed day.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your comments. I will just have to wait and see what happens. All will be well regardless of what happens. Thanks so much.

Well anytime you have unprotected sex there is always a chance of pregnancy so yes there is a chance. But if you have been having regular periods at a 28 day to 34 day cycle then you wouldn't have ovulated yet in order to get pregnant. You usually ovulate around 10 to 14 days into your cycle. So just see what happens. You can get a test and take it up to 5 days before you are expected to have your next period although if you take it that early there is a great chance of a false negative. I would just wait and see if you actually miss your period or start to be a day or two late. Then get a test.

You're going to have a while. You can't get an accurate reading from a home pregnancy test until you miss your period. You can take one earlier, but if you get a negative reading you can't be sure its correct. Until then, act like you're pregnant. No drinking, no smoking, take vitamins that have folic acid.

Until you know for sure if you are pregnant, assume that you are NOT and use protection. However, also assume that you ARE and take whatever actions you feel are important - like not drinking alcohol. Confusing? I know - but you are in that limbo moment right now.

Different over-the-counter pregnancy tests claim to be accurate at different stages. A negative one doesn't necessarily mean anything. It might be worth a visit to your doctor.

If your next period is normal, than you are probably safe. If it is light, you can't be sure.

Please take precautions! It's much easier and less anxiety-provoking, as you are experiencing now! Good luck.

Kelly E. is correct. You ovulate in the middle of your cycle. So, for a 28 day cycle you ovulate 14 days after the START of your period. So, unless your period lasts more than 7 days, or you have a really short cycle, you should be okay. My husband and I have unprotected sex until day 10 of my cycle. We've been doing this for a year, and I'm not pregnant.

Also remember that if you stress about it, your period will be late. If the thought of being pregnant scares you this much, next time tell your boyfriend to be a man and put a condom on.

I think you have to wait until 4 days before your next period. (if you get an early pregnancy test) I'll cross my fingers for you. Good luck!

Generally speaking women start ovulating between 1-2 weeks after your period some women are different. A sign of ovulation is the production of a clear thick discharge. They have pregnancy tests you can take 5 days before you missed period.

I do not think you are pregnant. I would get on another form of birth control like the IUD. They have the paraguard which does not involve hormones or the birth control pill. You normally get pregnant 14 or so days after your period ended. It sounds like you are too early in the cycle to get pregnant. Be smart unless you want another one and go on some other b.c or use condoms.

I'd consider a morning after pill if you don't want to get pregnant - but you have to get on the NOW. Otherwise, most pregnancy tests aren't accurate until about 2-3 weeks post conception.

The only 100% way to NOT get pregnant is to NOT have sex but I am quite sure you already knew that! If you don't want to wait to get a pregnancy test to see there is always a "blood test" however fair warning these are supposed to be the most accurate but I personally know two people a cousin and sisterinlaw that had a blood test done and came back as nothing yet in the end they were indeed pregnant....so explain that one to me? If its supposed to be the most accurate then how come on both cases it was missed????? However it doesn't hurt to go and get one done or you can just wait it out and pee on a stick to find out-lol! Here in Georgia they have these labs you can go to called ANYTEST and they do ALL sorts of bloodwork. HIV, Pregnancy, you name it they probably do it.

You most likely are not, but it is still very possible. There are pregnancy tests that are supposed to work 5 days before your missed period. But they are less accurate than if you wait til the day of your missed period. I tried one 3 days before my missed period and it was negative when in fact i was pregnant. So it is best to wait until the day you are due for your period. If you try one earlier, make sure you try another one later.
