I am 23 weeks pregnant and still like to sleep on my belly. I usually put one leg up a little, because it is more comfortable. They say to sleep on your side, but I hated sleeping like that. My 1st baby was fine and I slept primarily on my back and stomache. The babies are very protected in the womb. I even played softball up to 14 weeks with both babies and they are fine.

I have to agree with the responses above. At some point in the next few weeks, it will not be comfortable to sleep on your stomach and you just won't. Don't worry! Get some sleep!

Hi S.,
You have no need to worry. I fell when I was about 20 weeks pregnant and totally freaked. My Ob told me that our bodies are very good at protecting the baby in utero because of all the amniotic fluid surrounding them. She said I would have needed to be in a very traumatic accident where I would likely be quite hurt before the baby would be harmed. Also, you might want to get a body pillow (or two and sleep between them) for when you're further along. It kind of feels like sleeping on your tummy.

There is NO CHANCE you will hurt the baby. And soon you won't be able to sleep on your stomach anyway, once it gets bigger.

You can't hurt the baby by sleeping on your belly. It's fine to sleep on your belly. You're doing more to yourself (stress, fatigue) by not sleeping on your belly and not getting the sleep you need.

Please sleep on your belly!! You will get to the point where your belly is too big and you can't anymore. Sleep is the best thing for you right now. My OBGYN once told me to not worry about hurting your baby. It is in the safest place it can be right now. Worry when they arrive but not before.

Sleep however you normally sleep. You will not harm the baby, remember, the baby is well protected in there with fluid.
