Pregnancy Pillow
I am 17 weeks pregnant and I am having the hardest time sleeping and I know it is only going to get worse. I either can't sleep or wake up hurting. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the full body pillow that is sold for pregnant women. It is pricy and I didn't want to waste my money if it isn't going to work. Please let me know if you have an opinion on this.

I used a regular body pillow in front of me and one in back of me and I laid on my sides and shifted me weight. This was real nice when I was on bed rest. The only downfall was my hips got so sore, but I did have twins in there! I wouldnt say to go and buy the expensive one at all!
Good luck!

I just used a regular body pillow from WalMart (maybe $10) and it worked great. Couldn't have lived without it! My husband joked that I since I liked it so much and it was in bed with me all the time that I should name it, so I did....Javier! ;)

You know I had just a body pillow from target for my first preggers...I propped the baby bump up and put it between my legs...It worked great.
For my second child I got one of those 50 dollar jobs for preggers women. It was actually hotter and ickier in my opinion than just the body pillow. So in the end I sold the preggers one at a re runs are fun and got a 10 dollar body pillow from target again. So I personally wouldn't bother with one. Just my two cents.

Yes, they do work, but if you dont want to make the investment until you're sure...take a couple of regular bed pillows and safety pin them lengthwise to make a long pillow and try it out. I ended up putting a pillow against my back while I laid on my left side to give some support to the lower back muscles and it really helped me too.
Hope you find some releif and some good rest.
God bless <><

Definatelty worth the money. I got the snoogle they sell at babies-R-us and it has been money well spent. I looked at regular body pillows, but they were not very sturdy so I figured it would take two to get me comfortable. Figuring in the price of two body pillows and covers the snoogle was about the same price.

I'm 27 weeks and use the Comfort U body pillow. Link here:
http://www.mycomfortu.com/
It's WONDERFUL....but it is expensive compared to the $10 body pillow from linens n' things....It's about 6 feet top to bottom on each side. My husband hates it bc he can't cuddle with me at night, but honestly with uncomfortable as pregnancy gets (esp trying to remain on one side or the other during the night instead of sleeping on my back), I don't particularly like to be cuddled while pregnant.
I used lots of pillows for awhile, but they always moved around and took up more space than this thing does. And...I can flip from side to side in the night without having to rearrange all my pillows, etc. I keep it under my head, belly and under one knee.
cons:
Price
My hubby likes to cuddle on the pillow and being 6'4" and abou 240 lbs, he has absolutely mushed it on his side...but a normal woman shouldnt.

I have two girls and with both of them I had to sleep with a pillow under my belly, between my knees, one under my head and one to cuddle with. I don't think you need to spend a bunch of money on those body pillows just get yourself some nice new pillows.

E., I'm a 27 year old and am on my third pregnancy. I have a pregnancy pillow that was given to me and haven't even tried it yet. I prefer my two body pillows, that they sell at wal-mart. I use them even when I'm not pregnant. I use one in front and one behind me when I sleep, it helps because I toss and turn a lot durring the night. wow your 17 weeks and I'm 19 almost 20 so you must be due at the end of april. I'm due at the beginning. we just found out it's another boy. well good luck to you, if you want to chat sometime that would be cool.

I personally really enjoyed mine, you can put your leg over the middle part, while you are still laying on the top, and thats the only way I could sleep. was on my side with my leg propped up

I took one of my throw pillows and used it between my knees. It made the biggest difference with my hips. After that I slept thru the night. If you are hurting all over, I would look into a body pillow. If it is only one area, then just use a spare pillow. My throw worked best for me because it was so firm. Regular pillows didn't keep my hips aligned right and all I would do was toss and turn all night and wake up hurting. Good luck finding the right pillow.

Have you tried just using lots of pillows?? When I was pregnant for the first time I had to use 4 pillows. On under my belly, one under my back, between legs, and head. I have never used a pregnancy pillow but lots of pillows worked for me. If you think the other pillow will work go for it so you can actually sleep.

I used an $8 body pillow from Walmart, I loved it and it really did help. I would say try that first, if you can get the relief you need for $8, then go for it! It will also help to see if you need the kind that goes on both sides, or if a normal one will be sufficient.
Good Luck!

I was miserable during my pregnancy as well. I bought a body length pillow from walmart for $10 and I think it worked wonders, don't waste your money on the pricey ones, I think they work the same. Good luck!

My daughter just had her first child 4 months ago. She had kidney problems throughout her pregnancy which made her back hurt when she slept. I purchased her a body pillow at Walmart for under $15 and she said it worked wonders! She still sleeps with it.

Go to Walmart and buy 1 or 2 $8.00 body pillows or sounds weird but go to pet section and get 2 big dog pillow beds around $15 -20 each and use them...that's what I did and I am still using the oversized pillows. The advantage is the dog pillows are designed to be able to clean fairly easily, you can add stuffing at a later date if the pillow isn't fluffy enough for you and they look nice.
Good luck,

I bought the pregnancy pillow when I was pregnant and it was the best thing I could have done. I tried just extra pillows and they moved away from me too much. When I got the pregnancy pillow I slept better than before I was pregnant. It was big and my husband and I only have a double bed so it did move him to an air mattress next to our bed so he could sleep good too.

I loved my pillow (I called it my "C" pillow). I did not want to give it up after I had my daughter. My husband on the other hand hated it. He said it was a barrier!! I think it only cost around $50 at Babies R us. Hope this helps

I don't think the pregnancy pillows are worth it- save yourself some money and use multiple pillows from around the house- the one that I couldn't live without was a fairly flat pillow I used when I laid on my side, I just tucked it under the side of my belly to support some of the weight of the baby and it was like magic! Other great spots for pillow: between the knees, between the ankles, one to hug and one behind you (or if you have a trainable dog, if you can get it to lay against your back you get back support and a heating pad in one!) I liked having multiple pillows better, I felt like it gave more flexibility as I got further along.

Save your money and buy a regular body pillow from Wal-Mart for about $10. I used that through both of my pregnancies and it helped immensely. Another option that worked real well with my first pregnancy was sleeping in my husbands oversized bean bag (I just needed help getting up! lol)

I LOVED the full body pillow for pregant women. I couldn't have made it through my last two pregnancies without it. I too had trouble sleeping early on and it was an absolute life saver. I have recommended that in the past to co-workers for their pregnant wives and they also raved about what a difference it made. I would absoultely get one as soon as possible.

I bought it and it was awesome! The only bad part was that it is big and literally comes between you and your partner. But I have to say that it was totally worth it and hard to give it up after the baby was here!!

This pillow was a life saver for me. I had problems with my hips and lower back aching during my pregnancy and tried this pillow out and benefited from it greatly. I would tuck the pillow under my neck and wrap it around my backside then in between my legs. Hope this helps and hope it works for you too!

when i was pregnant, i couldn't afford a special pregnancy pillow, so i just bought a body pillow and snuggled up to that. i can't imagine what it would have been like if i didn't have that "extra body" there w/ me! just try a body pillow first and if you still want the special pillow, at least you didn't spend very much on the other one!

You can use a couple extra pillows that you have around the house; one between your knees and one to "hug". It really helped with my low back discomfort when I was pregnant. You may be able to find a less pricey body pillow that is the same as the pregnancy pillow in Target or another store.
