Pregnancy/Maternity Pillow

I am 14 weeks pregnant with twins and beginning to experience discomfort when sleeping. I know that I will not be able to sleep on my back for much longer and will need to purchase a maternity pillow, but there are so many different styles available. If you have used one and can recommend a brand/style, I would appreciate it!
Thanks!

I just had my son three weeks ago and sometimes I wish my husband would still let me use my huge maternity pillow! The Leachco All Nighter Total Pillow was absolutely awesome - especially since I'm a tummy sleeper and had a really hard time adjusting to sleeping on my side. Here's the link for it at Amazon.

Good luck!

I like the Snoogle a lot. But in a pinch like if you are traveling a bady pillow or a few extra regular pillows can work. I like to use a regular pillow between my knees and a second for my arms.

ditto what tsw said about the body pillow, its the best. if you are tall, you might want another regular pillow between your knees, i am 5' 4" and the body pillow just made it, but the end got kind of flattened and so sometimes i used another between my knees, because i liked to have it all the way up top too, between my boobs as they got huge. congrats and i wish you a great pregnancy

I really liked using just a plain body pillow. It was nice to tuck between my knees and to tuck under my belly for support. Then I had a free hand to throw over it and it just molded to my body. When I rolled over, because it was tucked in and around me, it came with me, so that wasnt an issue. I dont think I could have lived without it!

My husband jokingly referred to it as "my boyfriend" because it was always "coming between us"!

Congratulations!! Twins are the best :) I have 17 month old b/g twins and they are sooo much fun. It can be hard at times but so is having just one! When I was pregnant I got a Boppy sleep pillow. It looks like a comma and I LOVED it. I got it at Babies R US. I liked it because it wasn't too big and I could still fit it under my belly as it got bigger, but it was long enough that I could put it between my legs to relieve some pressure. Good luck. If you ever want to chat feel free to e-mail me. I would be happy to offer any ideas or suggestions for what you need for the twins and what you don't. I got so many things that I thought I had to have but in the end were unnecessary. One more piece of advice...don't listen to any negativity or scary twin stories. I can't tell yo how many people told me their scary twin stories and I was scared to death. Don't listen!! My twins wer born full term and were both healthy and yours will be too :)

Congrats!
I used a body pillow (use your 20% coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond!). I also used a smaller pillow for my back if warranted. Do what feels best for you...

Best wishes!

Congrats on your twins!!! I have almost 5 mo old g/b twins... I know when I was pregnant i had two pillows I loved- 1 was a regular body pillow - not antlything special & the other was a really soft 'bean' pillow like you would use around your neck for travel... It was soft / flexible enough to support where ever I needed it- especially in my later months I really needed the smaller pillow to support my huge belly! Good luck & feel free to ask me any ? You may have!!! Twins are just so special, they are my first as well.

I had no luck with any of the maternity pillows, and I tried three different ones! In the end, I just used 5 different regular pillows, with the help of my chiropractor. She showed me some great tricks!

Laying on my side, I put a pillow:
-between my calves
-between my thighs
-under/around my belly
-under/behind my lower back
-under my head (normal)

You probably wouldn't need all of these already, but soon! And that one between the calves- it's the one I would never have guessed. But it works so well at keeping your body in alignment, and taking stress off of those parts that hurt during pregnancy.

Good luck with your twins!

the one that i used that i loved is called the snoozer pillow, it is a maternity pillow. it helped my hips as well when i had to sleep on my back. you can wrap it behind you, so that it props you up and gives you arm rests that way. it's super comfotable, and you can get extra pillow cases for it. i got mine at destination maternity. the store i went to was in danbury ct. i'm not sure where you live. but that is an awesome store to get clothes, books, exercise video and pretty much anything you need. they even give you free water or orange juice when you shop. i hardly shopped anywhere else. they also have a website.
there is also one made by boppy that is called the total body pillow.
hope this helps.

I used the "Comfort U" pillow. I LOVED it. If my husband would let me I'd still be using it to this day. It is like two body pillows, one on each side of you. So you can support your back and you belly at the same time. I don't remember but I think it was from the company website so you could try comfortu.com. I have also seen it in some catalogs but I don't remember where. It was a bit pricy (maybe $150) but worth every penny.
good luck!

I'm still using my Boppy Body Pillow and my daughter is 15 months old! It's the perfect length and firmness. Loved it while pregnant and still loving it.
I purchased mine at Target in the baby section.

Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy. It's a glorious time.

Congrats on your pregnancy - twins are just an amazing ride!! I used the back and belly pillow. I purchased it online and it is huge but it was really a saving grace for getting some sleep when I was pregnant with my girls. Best of luck!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I have been using the Snoogle for the past month or so, and it has improved my comfort tremendously! It's curved at the top and the bottom so it supports your head and you can place it between your knees. I've been very happy with it and have slept much better since I got it. Good luck!

I have the full-size Boppy 24/7 maternity pillow and love it. My midwife recommended the Snoogle pillow, which I've heard great things about too....it looks really comfy. (I didn't get the Snoogle because the store didn't have it in stock the day I went to get one. I was so uncomfortable and desperate to get some sleep that I got the Boppy because that's what they had. It turned out ok because the Boppy is very comfortable and has gotten me through 2 pregnancies now.) I think they sell both at Babies R Us.

Hi Kelly
I used the back n belly pillow when I was preggers. It was absolutely the best! It is shapped like a u, SO IT SUPPORTS YOUR back, belly, and head. You can put part of it between your knees too.It made it so easy to roll over in the night because it was alredy there. When I used pillows, I had to move all of them each time I moved.
I got it at onestepahead.com It is $69.95, and worth every blessed penny! My husband actually tried to steal it from me! I recently started using it again, because I was waking up with back pain...no more! The only down fall to this pillow was washing the cover. I found it to be difficult to get it back on after. I took regular pillow cases and cut open the closed end. I slipped it on to the part where you put your head. Then I only had to was wash that all the time. I can't tell you how much of a difference this made for me. I think you will love it!
Good luck with the twins!

I loved the Snoogle (snugle?), can't remember the spelling. It is a long pillow that you can curl up or wrap however needed for support.

I used the tempurpedic pillow from brookstone (the long one) not sure if they call it a body pillow. Not only was it very helpful during my pregnancy (my twins are 3 1/2yrs now) but my husband loves it. Good luck.

K.,

Read all of your feedback! I have a snoogle, but other than the convenience of not having to move four pillows every time I woke up during the night (pretty much every 1 - 1.5 hours at the last 2 months), it was rather expensive, and I could have used the $50 elsewhere.

If you are crafty - you could MAKE your own! Think of a tube of pillow material, about as long as you are tall. Be able to tuck it under your head (it replaced my pillow since I was not on my back), around your tummy or back, and between your legs (circulation is a GOOD thing! :)

Good luck, and congratulations!

I liked the Especially for Mom Body Support Pillow.

You can get it at Babies R Us. I liked that you can zip it tinto a pillow for the baby to relax in later.
