The only thing I have ever heard of actually making a difference with stretch marks is Bio-oil... I didn't use anything and was lucky enough not to get horrid stretch marks, but for the most part they are genetic. That doesn't necessarily mean that you WILL get them if your mom has them, but you will be more prone to them no matter what you do...

Palmer's 100 percent cocoa butter. Most stores carry this in the lotion section and it comes it three forms; an oil, creamy lotion, and salve. If you can't find it there, you can find it where ethnic beauty supplies are shelved.

See: http://www.palmers.com/

You can also find pure cocoa butter at most health food and stores that carry natural and organic foods etc.

Lotions with fillers do not work. So don't get fooled by certain brands that say cocoa butter. You know you have the real thing by it's consistency and smell. Cocoa butter is very thick, and oily and has a very strong and sweet smell. It has fantastic healing properties and is great for more than just stretch marks and dry skin. Old scars and burns benefit from cocoa butter as well.

Be aware because of it's strong and sweet smell (very much smells like chocolate cake) you might only want to use it at night before bed. It can stain clothes too but it will wash out fine.

Amlactin. It's heavy duty (and doesn't smell that great) but works so well.

Hate to break it to you, but there's nothing you can do about the stretch marks. They're genetic. But the lotion can keep them from itching.

Good luck!

I used basic lotions through out all my pregnancies to reduce the possibility of stretch marks. And fortunately did not ever get stretch marks. I used:

Preg #1 - Swiss Ives, Collagen & Elastin, but was a young 28 yrs. old
Preg #2 - Lubriderm w/ Shea, Cocoa Butter
Preg #3 - Nivea, with Vit.A, E

I still use Lubriderm and Nivea but have never been able to handle the smell of the Swiss Ives one, ever, ever again since giving birth.

Aveeno is just all around great. Oatmeal, even fresh mushed and with a little water rubbed on the belly can greatly improve skin. I had the same issue I used St Ives Elastin and Aveeno

Aveeno is a good brand. But I also like to use any of the body butters from Bath and Body Works. I know that they say that stretch marks are partly genetic but I used body butter on my stomach, butt, lower back and thighs for both pregnancies and I have zero stretch marks. Not a single one! And my sister has them.....so i don't know I'm probably just one of those lucky ones but I really like the body butters.

Eucerin is a great lotion for dry skin. But don't waste money on stretch mark specialty lotions because they DO NOT WORK! There is no magic lotion to prevent stretch marks. You will either get them, or you won't. Its a matter of skin elasticity and genes.
