Pregnancy Announcement - Washington,DC

So...give me your most creative ways to announce pregnancy. Someone I love dearly is newly pregnant, but she lost two babies in the last 18 months, so she isn't telling anyone other than her husband, myself, and our older sister.

She is going to wait until she has the all clear (they are already starting blood work and sonograms at 4 weeks along), but she is thinking 12 weeks to tell people

All I could really think of was a few different pictures I have seen (the family feet with an empty pair of baby booties, the mom and dad in bed with the bed covered in typical food cravings and the dad looking like "oh no!", having her older daughter (5) in a big sister t-shirt, or something like those. I know she'll want a big coming out though, assuming all goes well

Have any of you done anything super creative?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so far ladies!

I know Google and Pinterest have TONS of creative ideas. But they don't have all of them and some moms on here might have great ways they announced.

I saw a cite on this week!
It was a photo. Dad and older sib (together) + mom (alone) = 4
Easy enough to do with adding graphic symbols onto a photo card.

We took a photo of our son (who was 4), standing on tiptoe, peering into the baby's cradle. Of course, there wasn't a baby in there yet, and we placed a fun toy in there to get our son to look into the cradle, as though he were gazing at a new little brother or sister (in the photo you couldn't see into the cradle so no one knew our son was really looking at his favorite toy truck, which, it turned out, he liked a lot better than the squalling crying little baby we brought home a few months later!).

We took the photo sort of from behind and a little to the side, so the emphasis wasn't on our son, but so the emphasis would be on what the crib would hold in a couple of months.

It turned out really nice. The photo was taken in the evening, in fairly low light, with a little of the remaining sunlight coming into the room where the cradle was.

Are they into things like gaming? If so, maybe have a sign saying "Player three arriving on" and the due date? (Or the big sis holding a controller and a sign next to another controller on the floor saying Player 2 due....)

Or the big sis wearing one of her father's suit jackets and a tie saying "I'm getting a promotion on x date!"

One of my friends had a family photo where her DH held up a #1, their son #3 and she held up both #2 and #4

What a sweet thing to do, helping your friend!

Because she has lost two pregnancies, I think that perhaps an announcement that seems more "appreciative" (or poignant) than comic, would be more appropriate. Making it too comic might make people think about the other babies and feel a little unsettled. I admit that this is how I would feel if it were me...

Don't know if that's useful to you or not. And maybe she wants so desperately to forget what is behind her that she wants her "big coming out" to be light-hearted. It's just that I couldn't really take it that way if I knew of her sad history...

I took a picture of my 4yo daughter reading "what to expect when M.'s expecting" and posted it with the caption, "Somebody is studying up..."

My SIL did the "We're expanding our family by 2 feet" and took a pic of their feet (my brother's, hers and their 2 boys and then a cute pair of pink shoes). It was adorable.

I recently saw one that was a pic of the first child that said "Mom and Dad think I'm so great, they decided to make me a big brother!"

They could have a picture taken with all three of them holding a sign with their DOB and then have "mom" holding one in front of her belly with the due date.

The 5 year old could wear a shirt that says "Big Sister" and have her picture taken.
