My hubby just got deployed to Iraq and I am 4 months pregnant and finally ready to start telling everyone so I got a shirt that says, "Half my heart is in Iraq, Half of his is here" with an arrow pointing to my tummy. Pretty cute right? But there are lots of cute shirts you can get that say things like "Body by Baby" or "Hot Momma" or "bun in the oven" etc.

We sat my parents down, telling them I didn't have a recent picture of them with our son then as they were smiling and posing, I said, "I, 2, 3... I'm pregnant!" waited a beat and took the picture.

It was AWESOME. They were shocked at first and then didn't quite believe us and then started crying. (It took 3 years and IVF for our first child and no one new we were trying again and back in fertility treatments for this one.)

Also, I had set up the video camera where they wouldn't notice it, so I got it all on video too!

After we had told all of our immediate families, I posted the picture of my parents on Facebook and said, "Let's play a game: Who can guess what we just told my parents in this picture?" Everyone pretty much guessed right away but again were in shock because no one thought we'd have more biological children. (We're trying to adopt as well.)

Here's a link to the photo.

I am so glad that we announced it this way. My dad said it as the best surprise he's ever had and he loves watching the video over and over again reliving the moment :)

For my husband's parents - who live in Nebraska - we sent them a webcam, saying we wanted to start having weekly webchats with them so they could talk to their grandson. We ordered a tshirt from cafepress.com that I made that said on the front "All I asked for was toy trucks for my second birthday, but..." and on the back, "My parents said I'm getting a sibling instead. Baby#2 due on ..." (My due date is my son's 2nd birthday!" They were shocked as well and we got it on video, too :)

I got surprise party invitations and filled them out. The date I listed as July 2007, the time was "When ever I feel like showing up" it was given by baby smith. When I was pregnant the second time it was around Easter and I made easter egg with candy inside and I added a little note: Happy Easter Love big brother Brandon and ?????. It took some people a while to realize what it was but everyone loved it.

I got a picture frame and filled it in with "place a picture of your new grandchild here!"

For our first baby we sent my parents on a scavenger hunt through their own house with clues and rhymes on pieces of paper throughout the house. They thought they were on a hunt for some type of gift. At the end were 2 onesies that I took puffy paint to and said "I love Grammy" and the other was "I love Grandpa". When they found them they were so flabbergasted and filled with joy. My mom was actually jumping up and down. It was kind of funny. Lots of tears. We had to get my mom out of the house so I could set up the clue's. My dad was at work. My mom didn't have any idea what I was doing. My husband kept her sidetracked.

Our second one we announced at our daughters 1st birthday by her opening a gift, a T-shirt I made with a picture of her on it and it said "I'm the Big Sister". We held it up for everyone to see and everyone's response was great.

we waited until our first sonogram- then handed the pictures to my father in law when he came to visit! It was a lot of fun to watch his eyes go from the sonogram pictures to my stomach!

People I've known have given bibs or onsies to people saying things like "I love my Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt/Uncle/etc." I've also seen people get a pack of diapers & wipes to take to their parents house & say you'll need help changing lots of diapers in 9 months! If you can keep it a secret until Thanksgiving, you can have everyone say what they're thankful for & when it gets to you ~ you can let everyone know. I didn't do anything cute ~ I was too excited to think of anything cute! Good luck! :o)

This stinks because I cant think how I told about my first pregnancy. I know it was a continuation from a conversation I had with my parents a couple weeks before. But with my second pregnancy, I had my daughter do it at her birthday party. She didn't know she was telling a secret. We got her a big sister book and had her open it in front of the family. Funny thing is no one got it until my brother-in-laws girlfriends eye got huge when my daughter was passing around the book. Since that pregnancy was twins and brought our number up to 3, when I got pregnant unexpectedly with number 4, I figured up around about when he would be due, and met my parents at a restaurant they visit daily, and asked them how they felt about having someone else at their house for Christmas. That was fun because then they had several of their friends to announce it to.

It looks like you have wonderful ideas shared already, but I'll add mine too! When we found out we were expecting our second child I wanted a fun way to tell my parents too! We made a shirt for our 2 year old to wear out of a regular white t-shirt and fabric markers. The front read "I'm going to be a...." and decorated it with multi colored stars. The back of course said "BIG BROTHER, May 2011" When my mother saw him coming in the shirt she read it and said "how cute, you are a star honey!" (lol) It wasn't until he walked away that she screamed in excitement having read the back!
Congratulations!!

I'm not sure if you are somwehat crafty or not, but this is what we did when we told the soon to be grandparents:
Many scrapbook stores sell small scrapbooks, I am talking small 2x2 size. We put one letter on each page spelling out 'We're pregnant!'. We put the due date on the last page. They loved them and are now a great keepsake. I will never forget my mom reading it going 'w....e....hhmmm, r....wait, what does this spell?' She was too cute. It is a moment I will not forget!
Good luck and congrats!!!

I mailed my parents a photo frame that said something like 'grandchild' on it with some cryptic note inside. It took them a few minutes to figure it out but when the got it they went crazy with excitement.
