I have tender breasts, missed 2 months of periods, have unprotected sex on my fertile cycle, been vomiting and my pregnancy test is positive. COULD I BE PREGNANT?!

Oh geeze, I'm in a mood, it's been one of those days and sometimes, these things just slay me.

Seriously though, I am 8 weeks pregnant, so I called a new ob to make an appointment and they require you to have an ultrasound done at the local hospital before they will see you. It has to be done at the hospital b/c the office does not have a machine. The office is located in the hospital district. Has anyone ever heard of this requirement? They said once my ultrasound appt is scheduled then to call and make my appt with them. I love my old ob but we moved 5 hours away, I am so sad, he delivered my last two children and was perfect. This ob has great reviews, but he's like almost 80, and this new requirement just threw me off. I'm also not too keen on having to pay all of the fees that going to a different facility will rack up.

(I'm not ageist, but it makes me wonder how up to date he is given this ultrasound thing.)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all for confirming my suspicion. I'm reading reviews of other obs on my plan now :)

This is my third pregnancy. I mostly just want a check up and a prescription for Zofran. If it were my first, I'd be giddy over an ultra-sound this early. My last ob didn't do sonograms until around 11 weeks.

Yeah, never heard of that. There is no reason for it. What a waste of money. Find a different OB - ridiculous.

It has been a long time since I have had a baby, but I never heard of that 8 years ago. You could try my doctor or perhaps his office. My OB is great and I have been with him since my first child was born. But I believe he is only around 50. Dr. Michael Howell at Women's Health ###-###-####).

That shouldn't be a requirement! I bet the insurance company would back you if you didn't want to have the ultrasound.

Well maybe can you contact another OB/GYN?

I never heard of that 'requirement' myself. Either.

I hope you can find another OB. If you end up needed a lot of ultrasounds like I did with my third, it will be majorly inconvenient for you to have to go to the hospital every time.

Congrats! That could be a pain in the butt going back and forth but I really don't think its too weird. Look around for a younger one if that makes you more comfy. You've got a long way to go so get looking!
