Hello,

My 2 yr old, goes to the bothroom when we are home, but when we are out, he does not.
Any tips??

What can I do next?

My son also will not use the potty when we go out. I think that it is because he has a small potty chair to use at home and when we go other places he would have to sit on an adult sized toilet. Hope this helps.

My little girl is the complete opposite. She loves to check out every public bathroom we come across, but it is so hard to get her to go at home. We also go through spells of good potty training only to revert back to not caring. Good luck with yours!

It is new to him to go potty at home and it may be a little scary when you are out. When you are at home, does he use a potty chair or does he use the adult potty?? My boys didn't like using it out either when they were using the child size potty but as soon as i took it out and they started using the adult potty, they didn't have a big problem using it anywhere. being consistent is the best way. if you are out, make sure you take him to the potty about every 30 minutes if he doesn't ask to go. hope this helps.

you may have already found a solution, but I thought I would let you know that we were in Berlington Coat factory in the baby section, and they have a new training potty on the go. It is seriously this little potty that you can take with you any where. i have a bit until we have to potty train our newest little one, but I think that is a great new invention, and you may want to check it out!

Maybe it will help if he goes to the bathroom with his father. It may be that he's following by example - he sees his family going to the bathroom at home and maybe not enough in public.

That way, he'll pick up the idea that people go to the bathroom when out in public.

Hi im a sahm of 3. Their ages are 9,3,4 and my now 4yr old would absolutely not go to the bathroom in public. I live on post so we might hv been over by the mall and he would hold it til we got back home. He had it so bad that he caught a UTI from holding it so much. The way we broke him is 1 night he had to go to the point of starting to tinkle on himself and we pulled over and his dad got out the car and made him pull it out and go. He was worried about using the bathroom in public cause everyone else uses the same bathroom. It got alot better once he went outside that time. I dont think we can fool him to go outside n e more, but he will go at walmart and different stores..hope thids helps in letting you know it does get better
