Potty Training Pants - Olathe,KS

I am working on potty training my 2 year old daughter. She tells me when she has to go about 90% of the time. I got her some underwear and she had an accident and it went everywhere! I've tried pullups but those don't seem to alert her when wet. Can you still buy those vinyl type covers to go over underwear? What have you used successfully? Has anyone done the potty party from the one day potty training book? I would prefer ideas that don't involve bribing or rewarding with external rewards. Thanks for your help!

In my opinion, there will be puddles in every potty training story. I think that is how they really learn. You can buy vinyl pants, but it's hot and humid in there and can cause yeast or urinary tract infections. It sounds like she's doing very well already. With rewards, I used sticker charts with lots of happy response from the kids, though it still took a long time to train.

Hi MJ, with my kids and my daycare kids I use the terry cloth with the plastic pants in one training pants. Pull ups are nothing less than a diaper with out tape. I think wal mart has the old fashioned training pants. Big girl panties are an reward for not peeing and pooping on yourself, in my house anyway. J.

Hello Mj,

Yes, you can still buy something like those vinyl covers. As a matter of fact, I still have some! If we don't live too far away, I can give you ours. Only problem is they were for my son, so they have boy designs on them. If you don't want to do that, you can buy them at Target. That's where we got his.

About the potty training... we successfully used a three-day potty training program that works!! If you'd like the info. send me your email address, (it's in PDF file).

Let me know if you're interested!! ls

I got a few pairs of waterproof training pants from www.pottytrainingconcepts.com for my son. They really helped me to get over the fear of accidents. I was really surprised at how well they contained accidents. They are breathable unlike the vinyl covers. They are really thick, though, so any pants that are used over them will have to be baggy. The best tool that I used was setting a kitchen timer to remind him (and us) to try to go potty more often. His accidents always seemed to happen whenever we forgot to remind him. Good luck!

I know that this sounds strange but for my son whom on some days wants to potty train then on other days like today wet every pull up and even pooped in them where as normally he goes poop on the toilet.
I put him in his underware and then put the pull up over it. It is not as hot as the plastic pants (bought them at Wal Mart) and he still feels the wetness because of the underware touching his skin and not the pull up pulling the wetness away. I also do this because of the mess that it does not make when he is in underware alone. I make him wear pull ups over his underware when we go on car rides to Wal Mart or any where only because it is a long drive of 45 min. for us to go anywhere.
We are moving and so I have not focused on potty training with him because he will most likely regress when we move anyways. I am planning on focusing more about two to three weeks after we move.

yep, they're still available. With my daycare, I request the thick training undies & plastic covers. Not only are the pullups a waste of time, they're an absolute pain to change out....& rarely help identify that first urge to go!
