My daughter will be 3 in January. She is also supposed to start pre-k starting January 14. She has to be potty trained to start school. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this in 2 months? I have started and I ask her if she needs to go about every 5 minutes and I take her every 30 minutes. I also have her in big girl underwear. She is only having a couple of accidents a day. So, any suggestions would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,
Just keep it up she will get it. Before no time she will be having no accidents. If she has an accident let her know its ok and we will try to get there faster next time. For awhile just let her run around in her shirt and panties, it's quicker and until she gets better control.

Have you showed her the potty training tutorial on www.sesamestreet.com? I hope it's still there. I haven't gone there in awhile.

Find as many books, videos and the like for her as you can. Does anyone make a potty chair for dolls? They should! Oh yeah and tiny little pull-ups. That would be cute. :)

I potty trained my son right at two years. We gave him incentives. We went and bought really neat stickers and each time he went, he got to pick a sticker to put on a posterboard on his wall

If she is only having a couple of accidents then she is already on her way. Please do not push her just for preschool. I did that with my first one and it is a BIG mistake. My second one I let him do it on his own time and he mastered it in 3 days flat (he was 3-1/2). Most preschools are aware that children have accidents. Just make sure there is a change of clothes in their backpack.

Since you are home with your 2 year old anyway... do not rush the 3 year old... it may be she is more comfortable with you. Pre-school is not always the answer. Mom's are the best teachers... keep her home and do your own schooling. She will benefit more and the pressure to get her potty trained will subside.
Enjoy all those little moments they grow fast enough!
