I HIGHLY recommend the Bjorn potty. It's only 9.99 at Babies R Us. It's one piece of molded plastic which is GREAT not only because it's easy to clean thoroughly without all the extra crevices, but it also doesn't have a detachable splash guard that boys have been known to pull off and play with (GROSS!), and it's a more comfortable splash guard being just molded plastic because it doesn't have those rigid sides. My boys have had no problems with the pee not making it into the potty with the bjorn potty.

The Baby Bjorn (http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Bjorn-055121US-BABYBJÖRN-Potty...) is my favorite, hands down. I bought a Safety 1st one initially, and I'm pretty sure it was one of the problems because that stupid shield kept popping off every time he sat down, dropping into the potty. Sometimes it would pop off while he was getting back up afterwards too, so ... eww!

Also, the Bjorn one is the only one I could find that is shaped like all the ones on the videos we watched, which also helped. When we were doing our big potty "party" day I did some online checking and decided it was worth it to switch to the Bjorn. I have not regretted it at all. He could just sit down on the thing and go without having any hassle with the lid or shield or anything. And it IS easier to clean than the ones that pull out like a drawer.

Oh, I also picked up the Fisher Price (http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-L1496-Fisher-Price-On-...) travel potty. I like that one too. Very convenient for on the road, and I've had no troubles getting my son to use it when we've needed to. I'll probably get more use out of that one, technically, as he's already moved over to using our adult potty when we're at home.

I would also recommend the baby bjorn potty products -- I've used the potty seat (fits on a regular toilet), the little potty and the toddler sized potty chair. All are easy to clean and have a splash guard for boys. The only problem I had was with the potty chair -- the potty bowl part lifts out of the chair for dumping and cleaning so my little guy decided to "help" by pulling it out and dumping it on the floor. Now he uses the potty seat on the big toilet and a little step stool to get himself up onto it. No mess, no additional cleaning except a quick wipe of the seat.

I don't have a specific recommendation, but I do recommend AGAINST a seat that had a 'cushion' seat, especially with a boy. We never used the splash guard for the same reason the previous poster mentioned, so the pee would go between the cushion and the plastic piece it stuck to. Then it would go down outside the 'collection bowl' and onto the floor....It was a mess, disgusting and a real pain to clean!

I use a seat that fits right on the toilet, and it was so easy to potty train my son. He just turned two and the only place he would go is on the big potty so I recommend just getting a step stool and teaching him on the regular toilet. This also makes it much easier when you go out, because he will already be used to the big potty!
