Hello,
I was wondering, if any Mom's out there have experience with post nasal drip.
My almost 5 year old son has really bad breath and the pediatrician says it is post nasal drip. His teeth are in great shape and he brushes his toungue as well as using mouthwater, but this smell does not seem to go away.
My younger son does not have that issue.
Any recommendations?
Thanks for your replies and have a great Mommy Day!

Hi A.,
Have you tried alternative medicine?? It makes wonders!!! They work at a slow pace but as you know they work inside out. This will make his immune system stronger and make the problem go away. You will attack the problem, not the symptoms.
I’ve done it with my children so this is my experience.

My sister used to say all the time last year that she could smell her own breath and it would smell like BM. We would laugh so hard because we could not smell it. However, she pursued this by going to the dentist, eyes-nose-throat doctor, her own internist, and finally went to a gastroenterologist. She had a scope to the sinuses and even an MRI because one doctor said her smelling that bad smell could be a brain tumor. The gastorenterologist (stomach doctor) gave her a very simple test. She had to drink some kind of sugary fluid and breathe into a test jar. And the cause was found. It was actually, as someone said, coming from her bowel and did smell bad. It was methane gas. She was supposed to be on an antibiotic, but could not take it right away, so instead took yogurt with extra acidophilus and then took the acidophilus pills. She no longer has the issue. Several people I have told this story to have had the same results with the test and have taken the antibiotic with a resulting "cure" and no further problems. Worth looking into. Good luck.

you know it could be reflux or even yeast in his esophagus, brushing the tongue is good and take away offending foods that would make reflux worse. my kids get this and we brush three times if possible and they are also on and off nyastatin or diflucan and it helps in a day!

Hello A.,

Let me ask you how often does he have a bowel movement? If he goes once a day, once a week, or once a month or less. It's in his colon and he probably has parsites so, you would need to get those bowels moving. Somthing doctors don't look at. To get the bowels moving you will need black walnut extract, oregon grape and LBS II. Give 1 teaspoon of each. Go to WWW.mynsp.com/bodywhole1 to order it.

I don't have any recommendations, but my 4.5 year old son has the same thing. He also gets really bad coughs whenever he gets a cold, from the drip. My other three kids do not have this problem either, although they all seem to have their own "things", like for example, my daughter usually throws up whenever she gets sick, no matter what kind of sickness it is. Good luck, and I will check back to see if you got any more helpful advice.

Does he clear his throat a lot? One of my kids had this and he has allergies. He had big problems with dripping and it was from buildup in his sinuses. He didn't really complain specifically about his sinuses hurting or a headache, but he had to clear his throat lots.

I would go to the ENT and check it out.

My son has it and takes zyrtec. I know that Neti Pots are great for adults for post nasal drip, but the chance of using one with a 5 year old are slim. Try some Ocean Nasal Spray a few times a day - it's just saline solution which dries up the drip.

Have they checked him for allergies? If he is allergic to anything that my cause mucus he may be post nasal drip.
Milk allergies, wheat flour allergies or a build up of yeast in the body can cause mucus. I would recommend seeing a holistic doctor whole specializes in allergies.

Just a thought.
