Post Holiday Cleanse

I am wondering about doing a cleanse but have never done one before. I'm not so much looking to lose weight from it, but after the holiday and having friends and family in town I know that I ate stuff I shouldn't have and now I feel blah. Does anyone know if there is any truth or effectiveness to those cleanses that are supposed to remove toxins and junk from the body after being bad for a few days? I usually am pretty careful about getting fruits and veggies each day, not eating too much, making sure I have variety but we had a friend from overseas who looooves Texas meat and hot wings and all kinds of bad stuff and I just kind of went along with it oops!

so, anyone know of a cleanse that isn't super extreme or out there but that really does seem to help balance things back out and get rid of that blah feeling?

What can I do next?

Personally? I would NOT do a cleanse.

They are over rated. The way to get the "blah" gone? Exercise - sweat A LOT. Drink water. Eat right.

Green Tea is great as well. I wouldn't spend the money on a cleanse. I would just hop back on the eating healthy and right wagon.

The below smoothie is one that I try and do once a month. I love it because it is done with natural food and not pills, powder ect......

the info is per Kimberly Snyder-http://www.kimberlysnyder.net/blog/

Here is my Detoxifying Smoothie that I think you will really like. It’s really quite yummy! I adapted it from my time working at Dr. Jubb’s Longevity in the East Village. It takes good enough and is easy enough to make EVERY week- and is well worth it for the benefits you will receive. The lemon and oil help detoxify and restore the liver and will help boost your immune system. Turmeric is full of antioxidants and anti-microbial properties, and is an amazing blood purifier. The cleaner the blood the more beautiful the skin, so turmeric can help with acne and other skin imbalances, as well as increases one’s energy.

Try making it every Monday for breakfast to start the week off feeling more cleansed and refreshed, or try having it 3 times this week for a nice liver booster.

The Weekly Detox Smoothie:

Blend the following: must be All organic

- Juice and pith of 1 lemon (only throw out the peel)
- 2 pears (seeded and cored)
- 2 apples (seeded and cored)
- 3 Tablespoons flax oil
- ½ teaspoon of Turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon of Celtic sea salt
- Pinch of Cayenne pepper
- 3-4 cups filtered water

I did a cleanse several years ago and I didn't feel any different. I would say go back to your regular diet and maybe add a few extra glasses of water daily. In no time you will feel great again.

Those types of products can be dangerous--you will lose nutrients. Just eating some raw fruits and veggies for a couple of days works well or you can do smoothies.

I think cleanses are over rated.
We just got some fiber gummy bears a little while ago.
A few of those and drinking lot's of water will clean you right out.
Benefiber is good too.
With plenty of fiber, and some yogurt, your blah feeling will pass fairly quickly.

This is a great one. It will not have you running to the bathroom like some others. You can live like a normal person while you cleanse.

I don't know about a cleanse. I have found that getting out into the fresh air and walking helps to get rid of the blah feeling.

I have done the cleanse from Advocare a few times and it works really well. It's gentle and they also have you take a probiotic which helps replace the good bacteria that is in your intestines and all that.

cheap and effective, drink diluted fruit juice 2/3 water, 1/3 juice. Try to get a gallon or more of this a day for like 3 days. Eat lots of fruits and veg. Get some walks, and some fresh air.

The juice and water will help things move through you, also, with that volume of liquid, you won't have room for much food.

I love, love, love Advocare!
They have a 24 day challenge- the first 10 days is a gentle cleanse. YOU EAT!! Just limiting your intake of sugars and fats; eating lots of raw veggies, fiber, and protein. I have done it twice and love it!! It's easy and not drastic- it's a 10 day cycle!!!
The last part of the challenge is to refuel your body and fill it with the good stuff.

I am about to start my third "round" of the 24DC if you'd like a "buddy" let me know!
PM me for more info on Advocare (I honestly wasn't sold on it at first; but I did my first 24 DC
with a friend of mine in January and, well, I'm going to be starting my 3rd! It works and is amazing!)

Michael's Naturopathic, Ultimate Detox & Cleanse,

This was recommended from a Sprouts clerk. I did it for 3 weeks. It cost about $60 . The pills are huge and you take two ( 4 pills pack ) a day. It was mild. Have not a clue if it really HELPED, but I felt great and it certainly clensed in a very mild way. I would do it again.

I'm doing a 'cleanse' in the form of my 2nd round of HcG diet. I lost 20 lbs the first time (sitting at 16 lbs kept off) for 4 months now but realize with the holidays I may gain a few. So I'm going back on that and hoping to lose 20+ lbs and cleanse my body in the process!

Good luck!
