I've been divorced for a little over a year and unfortunately most of my girlfriends were from his circle of friends. I've moved to Plano to be closer to work and am having trouble meeting people. This sounds so weird, but I'm wondering how to meet girlfriends?? My family and friends are not in Dallas so I find myself bored on the weekends. It would be great to find some moms to hang out with. My son will be 5 this summer. Any ideas???
You could join the online group called Meetups...it has groups for just about every interest you could have. I belong to 4 different meetup groups...two of which are mom's groups...they're playgroups but also great ways to meet moms. You can plug in your area and check out the list of groups in your area and pick which ones you want to belong to. They usually offer activities during the week as well as weekends.
I would love to be friends with you. I am a single mom as well, my son just turned 5 last week:-) He is on the autism spectrum and high functioning. It's so hard to meet people that have kids in common that are single. I know exactly how you feel. I just stay home on most weekends.

Find a nearby church of your desirable denomination and get involved in a singles group for divorced or widowed persons.
Our church has an active singles group that gets together for dinners and fun activities. It's Preston Trails Community Church.
