Losing weight after baby and keeping it off. How did you do it? Not only can I wait to hold my baby boy for the first time. I also can't wait to get back into my size 6 jeans....for some reason I've gained alot with this pregnancy (no. 3) and I just can't wait to start dieting and exercising after baby. So I want to ask how did the woman on here lose the weight and keep it off?

What can I do next?

I was a size 6, too. I gained 50lbs and 60lbs with my 2 kids. I lost 20 in the hospital after my 2nd and then I joined www.sparkpeople.com and lost another 20lbs. It's free and somewhat like weight watchers minus the points system. Its also very handy if you have an ipod touch or iphone. they have an app for it that is great.

E.,
For me, breastfeeding did it!! I lost the weight faster with my 2nd baby than I did my first. I think that was b/c I was busy chasing my 1st around after my 2nd. With my 1st, I was able to sit on the couch for longer periods of time.

I have 3 children, gained more than 50 lbs with each pregnancy and lost it all with each one. I breast fed for one thing. Breastfeeding helps with weight loss. Once I got the okay to exercise, I did not diet but I exercised. Even now, I still exercise, 6 days a week. I love chocolate and have certain foods I crave throughout the month but I eat in moderation. I make healthy meals that do not involve a lot of fat and sugar. Vegetables and fruits are a must and we don't eat out a lot and we stay away from fast food restaurants. Drink water throughout the day, stay away from soda and other sweetened drinks. Drink a glass of water before lunch and dinner that way you feel fuller and eat less. Think healthy eating. Stay away from chips, dips, candy, cakes, pastries. When you get the munchies for something you shouldn't eat, chew some sugarless gum or keep yogurts on hand and grab a yogurt instead. Don't eat a meal past 7 P.M. because it won't be enough time to burn it off before bed time. You won't get the weight off by dreaming about it. You have to work it off and it may take a few months but you can do it...IF you are determined. Exercise is the key, though.

Do some research on the Wii Fit---to see if that interests you. I am thinking it would be good because it is something you can do in your home, which can help when you have little ones and can't get out of the house.
Also I think Pilates would be great for getting your midsection back in shape, because that is all about "core muscles".
Special K is a good low calorie cereal.

dont give yourself that expectation of getting back into the pre-pregnancy jeans, the older you get, the harder it is, 3rd pregnancy or not. Id set a realistic goal that didnt involve weight, or size, but rather a favorable middle ground, like no muffin top, or saddlebags.

Breast feed! It burns calories like crazy. I was back in my pre-pregnancy sizse 8 skinny jeans in 2 weeks. I also mowed the grass (ours and the neighbor's) up to 2 weeks before the baby came, and started again 1 week to the day after. I didn't have time or money for a gym & didn't want to leave the baby with anyone. My husband said that I was losing weight like a crack addict! Good luck!

congrats on your baby~
Like the others, I dropped the weight from non stop nursing. I also eat really well. I eat NO processed foods, no foods with sugar, light even on the fruits unless it's apples or pears and berries. I drink lots of water, eat lots of fresh whole grains, lots of veggies and go for walks. Dairy will clog you up, breads will keep the weight on too. what do cows eat in order to produce lots of milk? they don't consume lactation from another species, they consume grass and that is nature. Humans should consume greens to feed their offspring.
One shouldn't diet, we should learn how to eat clean, simple and local foods and keep away from 'fast' foods. They poison the body and the environment. If you eat quick you will fight weight forever.

If you find a way other than starving yourself and working your butt off let me know.. Please!!!! I breastfed both of my girls and the pounds just dropped off. Since I have gotten older they have come back on. I think it's because of my husband. As long as I was single I was slim. Worked 50 to 80 hour weeks and didn't eat much. Too stressed out all the time over money...

lol I'm working on that also. I am 5 months post partum and had 30 pounds to loose...15 to go. It is about eating nutritious rich food instead of calorie rich and getting moving as much as possible. The less calories you take in + as much as exercise as possible will all help getting the weight off. Do not skip meals or starve yourself. It just makes your body hold onto the fat more. Eating small nutritious meals frequently 5-6 meals a day will keep your metabolism going. Dont eat after dark and try to keep moving after you eat. You can use the baby as a weight and work out with the baby as you play with him or her. Breastfeeding helps alot too!

Personal trainers have told me that to keep the weight off you have to strength train ie work out with weights to gain more muscle which burns more calories than fat. I hope to get a personal trainer or do boot camp type thing next to get rid of the last 15 pounds.

Make yourself small goals so you can have some progress along the way. Mine were to first fit back into my pre-prego jeans and outta maternity clothes ugghh! Accomplished that :) Now I am working on looking good in the pre-prego jeans lol

good luck!
